Second time to the track with GTA
I took my car to the track again and thought I'd let you guys know how I faired after "fixing" my code 43 problem from last week. My SES light didnt come up on any of the runs tonight, which is good but I can't be sure there is no knock. I just retarded my base timing from 8* to 6* and it seems better now.
First run:
14.573 @ 94.93
60' was 2.075
1/8th was 9.343 @ 74.44
Second run:
14.641 @ 94.87
60' was 2.173
1/8th was 9.419 @ 74.71
Third run:
14.897 @ 95.22
60' was a tire frying 2.467
1/8th was 9.682 @ 74.63
I'm happy with these runs except the last one. My car had a 2 hour break to cool down plus it was cooler outside, so the extra power was there, but the track wasnt as warm. I made the mistake of launching like usual and I spun past the 60' mark and into 2nd. Too bad, because the way my car pulled after that I think I could have ran a wicked time.
Reaction times were around .8-.9. I raced my buddies 89 5.0 mustang twice. Both times we crossed the finish line with inches deciding it. First time he edged me out .0072 and second time I got him by .0017. He's got headers, cold air intake, flowmaster exhaust, clutch, and 3.73 gears done to it (so don't worry guys
). We got the races on camera, maybe I'll post them later.
I should add that I took out my heavy passenger front seat and floor mats before heading down. The back seats seem really light so I didn't bother with them. The weight with me and a 1/4 tank of gas was 3585 lbs, 45 lbs less than last week. My buddy weighed his mustang at just over 3200 lbs with him and a full tank of gas. I wish my car was that light.
A lot of fun at the track tonight, I may go again next week. I saw a notchback GTA down there with a stealth ram and nitrous. He wasnt spraying because he needs to work out his bugs with the stealth ram since he only ran a 14.0 ET.

Any comments on my times? I guess I'm pretty close to maxing out the best times I can pull with this car in its current form. Can anyone deduce what time I might have seen on my last run with a good 60' time?
I have an 88 GTA, Hey man whats up, I got an 88 GTA with the l98 350 TPI, 700R4 Tranny, Chip, Turbo Muffler and a ported plenum with 3.27 posi, Aluminum Driveshaft, WS6 and I cosider myself to be an above average driver, I don't know what my car runs but I took my friend for a ride in it, and he had an LT1 Camaro and he told me he think I would be a good race for his old LT1, I am gonna put headers, port and polish the heads, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Ram Air Intake with a K&N , TB Air Foil, Accel Cap, Rotor and Wires along with some Champion plugs, I hope if I go Friday to the track I will run at least a 14.9 if I can hook up right, the humidty down here is almost 100% every night and the temperature at the lowest is about 80 degrees farenheit....So I don't know what I will run...AARON
