ok, I have a low-compression 400 right now, with a Weiand Stealth intake. I'm exploring options, laying the foundation of the project. I'm thinking of going with Dart Sportsman II heads to replace my crappy 882's. I also want to put in the Comp Magnum 270H in place of the peanut in there now. Since I have such low compression (around 8.3:1) I was thinking about looking into the Vortec carb blower kit, since I want hood clearance and a stock look. Any ideas on what this will run when I put the Demon DP, 3.42 posi rear, and 2500 stall in it?
Thanks,

I'm no fan of the factory 400 SBC
They are not very sturdy when it comes to holding up to a lot of power. So I'm gonna say don't go blown. Do a good rebuild on the shortblock if it's not fresh already, Put some New heads on it, with a 64-67 CC chamber, and bring the compression up around 9.5-10 run something on the lines of a comp XE 274 cam, and a better intake like either an air gap or a good ole performer rpm.
Do That to it, and you'll never recognize it as the same motor, those 3.42 gears and a 2500 stall converter will be very nice on the street. may have trouble keeping tranny's behind it if you don't bulletproof a 700R however.
Depending uppon the budget you could use Either vortecs, or the pro-action lightning heads. whatever you use you will need steam holes.
a solid setup like that with a decent exhuast should pull low 12's all day at least. (round here anyway we are very close to sea level)
