Cracked windshield cause failed Tech inspection?
The track here opens last weekend in march with a swap meet and test and tune. I've only had my car on the track on other time.
Now I have a cracked windshield and I want to know if it will cause me to fail tech inspection. It doesn't interfere with my line of vision at all.
What do you think.
Thanks
Bill

I've had a crack going top to bottom in the middle-passenger side of the '57 windshield for 4 years. They don't even give it a 2nd look. I've seen much worse go through tech as well.
I wonder about those tech guys, sometimes. I wouldn't fail my own windshield, of course, but those other guys...

Where is the crack and how big is it?
As per the rulebook:
Windshield must be in good condition and free of cracks.
As per that definition, a tech inspector can fail a car for any crack in the windshield.
As per a commercial vehicle CVIP inspection:
No cracks allowed in the wiper area of the windshield. Cracks must be only on one side of the glass. No star chips larger than 2". Anything else and it fails.
Personally I'd go with that but only on a street car.
