Bad time at the track
I was wondering if I could get some advice on improving my E.T. I think I'm making a mistake somewhere because I feel my car should be running better times. I do have a bad traction problem and there is no chassis mods done at this time. I wanted to post some of my runs and see if you guys' experience could help me out.

First of all you need traction. 2.3x 60' times is slow and probably from wheel spin. There's no reason any V8 street car can't get 2.0's.
Doing a breakdown of the run doesn't show that much. Take the difference between each timimg light.
60' to 1/8 mile
1/8 mile to 1000'
1000' to 1/4 mile.
Once you've broken down the run, you can see where the car picks up or slows down. A run may have the same ET but if it had a better 60' time, where down the track did it slow down again?
Doing adjustments to the car will affect how it goes down the track. Putting on slicks will help the 60' time but do little to the 1000' to 1/4 mile time etc.

Traction is a big issue right now, my tires suck. They are 235/70/15. I have some 245/50/16 coming for my new wheels. Breaking down my times between timing lights it seems I'm losing time from my 60' and my 60' to 1/8mile and that can be improved. Slicks aren't really an option because the trans won't take it.(V-6 T-5). My first gear ratio at the output shaft is 3.91 to 1 causing me to have to launch at 1200 rpm to prevent massive wheel spin. My second gear is 2.34 to 1 and tonight I'm going to try launching in second at a higher rpm and see how than goes. I'm also gong to try shifting at a higher rpm. Right now I'm shifting at 5000, but its still pulling hard there. My other question is if lower my 60' and minimize the traction issue do you think mid 15's is out of the question?
