Electric Water Pump

What do you guys think a Mezierre electric water pump will do for me in the 1/4? A tenth and mph maybe?

Thanks,

Seth

It'll make your wallet a lot lighter. Buy a good aluminum belt driven pump.

Electric pumps don't have a long life expectancy especially on a street car. Even the fancy ones like CSI or Mezierre will last longer than a normal electric pump but they're still more designed for race cars or Sunday driven cars not daily drivers.

I dont drive my Camaro too often, maybe twice a week. I only drive my Camaro on weekends mostly. The Mezierre claimed a 2000 hour seal life, whether that is true or not driving an hour a day thats about 6 years of life expectency. You dont think I will see any benefit from an electric pump?

The amount of drag from a belt driven pump "might" be 5 hp. The power required by the alternator to run an electric pump might be 1 HP. Your total gain in HP won't justify the extra cost of a fancy electric pump. It's would be cheaper to take 20 pounds off the car to go faster.

The benifits of an electric pump is to let the coolent circulate through the rad between rounds. The engine can cool down quicker if you can get that hot coolent into the rad and let an electric fan cool it down.

I beg to differ on the water pump issue, I did 0 mods to the drivetrain itself EXCEPT switch over to a manual steering box to get the pw steering off the motor and installed an electric water pump, .5 is not owrth it? I was surprised myself the first time I ran it this year, cars weight is the same, prit near everything is identical except for new paint/interior and what I just said. My 2 cents and experience.
