The car is running again
I got a chance to go run in a Quick 32 today. The car is running good but there's still a couple of minor things to fix. My shift light keeps blowing the fuse so I had to try and shift by watching the tach. The playback tach was nice since I could replay a run and watch where I was actually shifting at. Most of the time I shifted at or close to 6800 and went through the traps at 6800. Not bad for not using a shift light.
Conditions were perfect for spectators but poor for the racers. Very hot and sunny and the barometric pressure was dropping during the day. 10 AM start time and the density altitude was just over 5000 feet. By the time I called it a day around 4 PM, the DA was over 6000 feet.
My mph ranged from 119.53 to 120.44 over 6 passes without doing any tuning so the HP looks consistant and I have a starting point for tuning now. Traction was another thing. Best 60' time was the first pass of the day with a 1.591. Worst was a tire spinning 1.751 which caused the ET to jump from 11.202 to 11.512. I tried everything to get traction but even the pro mods were spinning to half track.
I burned 5 gallons of alcohol in 4 passes. I need a bigger carb. I should be using more fuel!
I never did get that 10 second time slip today but the weather and the track were against me. I did manage to go 2 rounds before finally losing.
Things that need to be fixed before next race. 1. There's still a small oil leak at the front of the engine. The front of the pan gasket isn't sealing. It's not as bad as before but it should still be fixed. 2. Transbrake solenoid needs to be changed. It's sticking on me and most of my passes were off the foot brake today. 3. Fix the shift light.
That's about it. Other than that, I'm pleased with how well the car ran today. Only some minor adjustments from things that were loose. Next race is at the end of the week. I still want that 10 second time slip but with my traction problems, I don't think it's going to happen at altitude.

Glad to hear you have the car at the track again Stephen. Sounds like things are getting there and I am sure that 10 second slip isn't far away. Keep us posted on how things go on the weekend.
