Convertor selection?

Some one correct me on this.....I've always thought that you match the convertor with where the cam starts to make power(I know the heads and other components are essencial also) but on
the ls1 site they are generally in the 3200 stall convertor range
and higher. I just installed one(3200) in my 98 c5(stock) and ran 13.21 on a hot day beating my same temp times by .40. I am considering going to a 3500 stall(2.0) for my IROC BUT why are ls1 cars getting away with that much convertor???? My current one in Camaro is a 2400 b&m.any thoughts.

I think you match the converter to the torque peak to give you the best launch. You might want to step up to a 1 3/4 header.
Although 116mph should be good for 11`S

My Camaro had a B&M 2400 in it the best 60ft was 1.84 and after the switch to a Yank SS3600 it pulls 1.59s the good thing about the Yank is its not much looser than the B&M but on the spray I can get 4,000 plus out of the hole.

Link to Yank SS http://www.converter.cc/super_stock.htm

Also I run a factory stock motor and with a 210 shot it best run is 11.61 @ 115.44 so you have the MPH to go 11.60s also.
