From all the reasearch I've been doing, it's gonna depend alot on your particular set-up, you can get the plastic rocker arm and adjustable pushrod for around $25 this way you know exactly what you gotta have. Did you have your heads set-up for this soild roller, or are ya gonna install new springs for the added seat pressure needed?

im gonna change the springs....the motor is already built and running for 2 years, im just swapping from a hydraulic cam to a solid roller,
so all i really need to is the adjustable push rod....i was just curious as to what kind of luck people had using them, and how difficult it was to get an accurate measurement

Hopefully ya get some feed back, the new mill I'm building will be mechanical roller too so I'm interested myself. Still think I'll buy the tools since my geometry might be different than other fellas. Seen your runnin AFR's, how do you like them, I'm about 3 days away from ordering my 195 AFR's, think I'm jsut gonna order the plain set and take them to the head guy here and let him work 'em over, I can get quite a bit of things done for the difference of the street head and race head.

the heads are amazing, as long as you get the right sized heads for your application you'll be very pleased

Hey bud,
We used the comp cams adjustable to get the valve train geometry correct on the new 383. One of the advantages to this type of pushrod checker is that you can put it in with your real rocker, set lash, etc. and then measure.
Solid will be wicked nasty in that thing. Good luck.
