I think slow is an understatement in this case.

Here is my best time out of 3 runs.
60ft--------2.531
1/8et------11/076
1/8mph---65.56
1/4et------17.228
1/4mph---79.67

Maybe this isn't as bad as it feels for a pretty much stock 305tbi/auto with 120k miles.

What do you think?

Aww, the girls are cute as buttons next to your car.

Your 60 foots are killing you! I ran 16.3@ 82 bone stock in my 305 tbi. I recently just found out my caliper was dragging pretty bad too which I think effected my times. High 15's/ low 16's is where you should be.

vwdave- Thanks, I like this picture will all my babies in it. I guess i was a little too optimistic going to the track.

TraviZ- I was hoping for numbers like your camaro but i think my motor is a little tired to perform stock in that category.

F-Body Tim-Thanks for the comment. i think she is going to be my street baby and think about a different project for the strip. My buddy is getting rid of his 78 camaro with a 350 4bolt and some other goodies.

25THRSS- I think my problem is a high mileage tired motor. It seemed to take forever for the car to pull through second gear.

f-crazy- Your right. If i get any lower to sea level i'll need my swimtrunks and snorkel for the car.

TraviZ- She's already got a new set of wires. I'll be changing the plugs and oil this weekend. I am leaning more towards keeping my baby cherry and finding something else for the strip. I'll probably still do a catback exhaust and the open element mod so she can breathe a little easier.
Oh yeah and she is just about ready to turn 120k.
Your car was stock with 160k on it when you ran 15's? Now i am really feelin underpowered!

You serious about your only mod was the open air element and you still ran in the 15's?

Maybe bump the timing and give it a tune-up?

certainly room for improvement. tune up and timing may be in order.

but be proud that at least you ran the car at the track. you have to start somewhere! the beauty of bracket racing is that you don't have to be fast, just consistent. i saw a 19 second car go to the division 1 bracket finals and make it to the semis against 12 second cars. so many people talk trash and never set foot, um tire, on a dragstrip. good for you, keep going!!!!!!!!!

I'm with ya PhilM. You have to start somewhere. I will admit i am a little disappointed in my cars performance but the only other times i was at the track was with a bike and a Mopar with a big block. I'll just have to work a little harder to make this little bowtie faster.

my 91 RS went 15.40 stock with a cat back and the converter removed (535 ft elev). By the time I yanked that engine it had run 13.80's on juice with all stock internals. the new engine runs 12.30's. you jsut keep working down. from my years working at the track i met so many people who started just like us, slow, and kept with it as their funds and kills improved....and we always need more people on the track!

I plan on doing a catback here soon and also the open element mod. The thought of Nitrous has crossed my mind but i am worried about the engine holding up. With the high miles and it needs to a daily driver also.

my 305 had 180,000 when i installed the nitrous. many will disagree with me (as they often do on here), but you won't hurt anything with nitrous if you install and use it correctly. i ran dozens of bottles through it and it still ran great when i pulled it 50,000 miles later...

Can you give me some advice as to what Nitrous setup would be good. I have absolutely no experience with "The Juice". I am mechanically inclined though so i don't think installing it would be a problem.

the original and best, N.O.S. that is Nitrous Oxide Systems. (and for my Honda folks, don't call it "noss" or I will hurt you.) the kit I got, i think it was # 5153, is designed for TBI trucks, but it will work just fine on a LO3. the instructions are clear and concise. only advice I can give is to boost up your fuel system with a better in tank pump or a booster pump for the nitrous. I only had a factory in tank unit feeding the motor and the nitrous, and the car was often too lean in the higher RPMs. of course be sure everything else is working well, i.e. your ignition. you can start with the base kit and upgrade later as your budget permits. there is so much cool stuff to use with nitrous, remote bottle openers, rpm switches, purge kits...

Thanks for the info.
I found the kit and summit has it for about $600.00
This is sounding very tempting.
Well see i want to do the exhaust and intake first.
