i am going drag raceing on monday (4/5/04) it will be my first time.

i have a 1986 iroc-z w/ 305 TPI and a 700R4...

mods:K&N SLP RUNNERS HOOKER SUPER COMP. cat-back

stock the factory numbers were 15.4 and my goal is 14.7, but realisticaly i wont settle for any thing above 14.999.

i would say you might make it into the 14's with a very good launch and good traction but 14.7's is pushing it, but yeah like said before there are a few factory freaks out there.

Hmm, i dunno how realistic that goal is to be honest, if i were you i'de be happy with 15.3 (depending on what kind of rear-end you have, namely gears...)

We have the same car (see sig), and i haven't run mine yet... so it'de be awesome if ya let me know how ya do

BTW - replace the camshaft . Our cars got screwed over and dropped 25 horses from '85 to '86 because of a camshaft change. This is gonna blow ur mind, but the duration of our stock camshaft is 179 intake/194 exhaust!! wow... for comparisons sake the 88-89's have 207/213 and the 90-92's have 202/207.

i ran last night... my car has a lot more in it, but i am a rookie racer, so i could have done a couple things differentley. i will have a video up some time, i need to edit it. my first run ever was 16.4 , i had 4 runs, my last run was 15.9 , it's not 14.7 but i was happy with the 5 tenthes drop

i belive the slower times were do to posi, but the posi worked doing the burnout and craped out on the launch...

first run...
60'- 2.527
1/8-10.552
----- 67.59 MPH
1/4-16.430
----- 83.80 MPH

last run...
60'- 2.272
1/8- 10.168
----- 67.89 MPH
1/4- 15.937
----- 85.45 MPH

i was not the only one running bad... all of the LS-1's were low 14's or with better drivers at high 13's. they should be low 13's and hight 12's at normal conditions. this was the 3rd day open this sesson.

well, a bit away from your goal, but not bad for your first time racing... what are you going to do (technique-wise) to improve yours times in the future with the auto?
