2nd Time to the track, getting better

I went to the track for the second time since ive had this car. Last time i ran my best was

60ft 2.149
1/8th 9.167
MPH 76.41

which sucked but i was learning.
Today i got back with an 8.943, 8.912, 8.849, 8.825, and my best of

60ft 1.967
1/8th 8.795
MPH 78.79

My best MPH was 79.25.
My friend also ran my car and his best was an 8.801 @ 78.67 on a 1.964 60ft.

My car was running about 220*s last time and i ran the fans directly on a switch this time. I also took out the spare, jack and stuff, unhooked the front sway bar, and ran the TC lockup switch. This was done on po' boys special tires too. What do i need to run in the 1.8's or even the 1.7 range? I felt like the 1.9's were hooking extremely hard but i didnt really try and rev any higher to take advantage of the extra traction. I would hold the revs at 1K and let the brake off at the last yellow and punch the gas about 1/4 down then roll into full throttle. I still think i could have ran better but im extremely happy to have gotten into the 8's.
Anyone have any suggestions on launching a car on 245/50/16 street tires? I'd love to have some DR's but i cant afford it right now.

Man how did you run a 1.87 60ft? Was that on street tires? Looks like we run really close to the same time.
