Gtech pro?

I picked up one of those gtech pro's off ebay for cheap the other day, so I figured i'd go for a run in the camaro. I only did a couple runs on my way home but my best 0-60 was 6.46 and the one 1/4 mile run I did came in at 14.8@101.6mph? I heard this thing was generous if anything so I was a little dissapointed. I did spin a good amount and went a little sideways, maybe that threw the thing off? I've been in 15 sec cars before and they didn't feel like this, when it hooked it went like crazy, this can't be right, I should be 13's for sure. could this thing be out that much? I'll have to do more runs soon and see what happens! any comments or suggestions? Thanks!

Your 0-60's suck!! Your going to have to learn how to launch your car if you hoping to get any ware near a 13 second run. Just to give you a idea, when my car had just full exhaust and 5 speed I would do a 5 second flat 0-60 and end up with a 13.7 on the G-Tech. Maybe you should look into getting some LCA relocation brackets and some better tires.

The ET is probably close but the mph is usually 3-4 mph higher. Saturday I'm going to the track so I'll try and compair track times with the G-tech's times. The last time I used the g-tech I got a 14.20 @ 106 with a lot of wheel spin on the street, think my 0-60 was 5.2 seconds. Since that run though, there's been a lot of changes and some problems fixed.

Assuming that you have it setup correctly, all the numbers it gives should be close except the MPH which will be generous compared to what you’d run at he track. Kicking out sideways a little shouldn’t effect the g-tech. FWIW, a 13 second car in the wrong hands could easily turn into a 15s car.

I suck

I'm definately new to all of this. I have no traction and all I did was drop it in D and mash it aff the start. I just got the car back from a round of mods and NEED to learn how to launch it big time. I'll try a few things and see what I come up with.

I went out recently and tried that. All I could get was a 6.18 0-60. There is no hope for this car with these tires on it. They are firestone firehawks 245 50r16. When I bought the car he told me they were the longest rated perf. tire he could find, something rediculous like 100km! So they are as hard as a rock. I tried several launching techniques today and nothing worked, all of 1st is spinning and if I feather it I can't go very fast at all without breaking loose! That 6 seconds is all 2nd and 3rd, I'm losing all kinds of time spinnin. I've never been able to brake torque this car, I launch off idle but now with the 4.10s its all over. This Gtech is definately worth it. Its already taught me a valuable lesson about how I've neglected traction issues. I think I'm going to buy some nittos this week and see what results I get. I hope they work? Anyone?

The firestones are decent tires, you just need to get a little heat in them and modulate the throttle. I think that Nitto 555r’s (the dr’s) are about the best street tire around for a “toy,” but unless you really heat them you still need to drive them out of the hole. Not much will dead hook cold (assuming we’re talking about some decent gearing and torque) if you just mash it. Slicks are actually easier to spin cold on the street then street radials.

Unfortunately, there is no real way of getting around learning to drive it.

Defiantly heat them up first with a quick spin, that always worked best for me, then I would try to brake launch it again if it all possible because it always gave me the best time when I had the auto in my car. Remember just roll into the throttle quickly and not stomp on it

I will try this. When I tried to roll into it the other day I couldn't get going without it breaking loose. I never thought of heating the street radials up, I thought I saw people on here say it was usless so it never crossed my mind. Looks like its going to rain today but I will try it out ang get back. Thanks guys, whats a good pressure setting for the rears on this?

I tried a few runs today. It was the middle of the day in an industrial area, so I didn't want to attract too much attention to myself so I did not do a burn out. I got a 5.93. Not where I want to be but much better than 6.56! I did do a better launch but like a dummy I forgot to activate the gtech. I could tell by the way it hooked it was much better than the 5.93 run but no results. oh well, I'm confident now that I could at least get a 5.5 out of these tires. Thanks alot guys, there is a light at the end of the tunnel now! And thank you for putting up with me!
