just got back from track..305tpi basline run

hey..

first time ever racing at the track today... it was 30*C and 70% humidity.

ran 5 times with a best of 15.045@92.09mph.........

car is a 1991 GTA..power everything...305tpi auto..non posi. headers, removed cat and 3" borla and a K&N. and 3.73's

would have liked to hit 14's but that will have to wait..i wasn't getting good traction because i was only running 205/55 goodyear RS-A tires, and i was having transmission trouble with a delayed shift between 2-3...

with the tranny fixed alone i think i could have ran 14.9X and better traction would be nice too

i have almost the same stuff done to my 89
small crapy flowtech headers, nocat, stock ipipe, flowmaster, airfoil, k&n, egr wall removed in plenum, 3.73 but the posi is fried

but i have a good trans with a 2500 converter

14.80's @ around 92 mph was what i run around

but that is with my car is running like crap and stumbling around 4000 rpm

what are your 60ft times?

i'm gonna grind the egr walls sometime too. so basically the only diff in mine and your car is you have a 2500 converter..and my car ain't shifting good...the weather was not desirable today for racing, and i bet if it was better, i could have ran a 14.9..the track is also at high elevation...i can't remember if its 500, or 1500 above sea level.

2.204 was the 60' for my 15.045 run. i'm was running pretty skinny 205's and i wasn't hookin up much good, and i had to ease into the gas off the line....anyway..i hope to get my trans fixedand o back later this summer to try for some 14's..

you should get 14s easy

like i said my car is idling like crap and stumbling up high probably do you cloged injectors and bad fpr

i ran my times in the same weather as you about but the great thing about the 2500 converter and my wider 255s on the back im able to get high 1.9s with a peg leger

i dont really like the 3.73s though
with the torq of the tpi cars and zero high end a 3.42 is all you need

i had one and i liked how the car was alot better but that rear blew

if i can fix my problems with the fuel i will be running low 14s no problem

Hah! I'd like to be anywhere near that low.

What track? I don't think any Canadian east coast track is above 500 feet.

yeah it don't sound right to me either for the track to be that high..but i thought i heard someone say that..all the regulars at the track were all saying they were running slower than normal...so maybe i could have made a 14 on a better day...anyway..i was expecting high 15's so i'm happy!

It wasn't the altitude but the density altitude. DA is an equation that uses altitude, temperature, barometric pressure and humidity to give a theoretical altitude that the air conditions are currently at.

30C and 70% humidity are really poor conditions. There's a lot more water in the air at those conditions than if it was 20C and 70% humidity.

what kind of mods does the guy with the 2002 have?

when my car had a lid, catback, drag radials only my best time was 12.38 @ 112 with a 1.84 60ft but that was not a very good day and i went 12.40 @ 113 with only 1.96 60ft

so it would have been around a 12.1 if it was a better day

but that car is out of commition right now because i broke a comp r lifter inside the motor after hopping it up a bit

so the motor need to come out to fix it and thats why the 89 is getting a lil more use these days

sounds like the 5-spd really makes the car faster...my auto is getting sluggish..maybe i should start looking for a t56.

nice run no-car. with more practice u can definitly hit a high 14. i think the 3;73's are killing u though. u should step down to a 3:42. with better tires u will definitly be 14's. even with the delayed shift of the craptacular stock 700r4.
