launching camaro part 2
ok so just got back from the track only ran twice before my starter would not engage. so went home, dont worry cars ok. it was rainy out and they said the track was dry enough to race on. ok so i launch at around 2000 to 2500rpm this time cus you guys said that 3500rpm was a little much for my car. i did nothing but smoke my tires all the way threw 2nd. and then missed 3rd. then i said screw it and coasted threw at 20 seconds. this is quite frustrating trying to get my driving down i most like would have got it down to night but my father insisted we go home just incase it was more than a starter problem. i want to try launching the car from from idle what do you think? give me anymore segestions etc.

First it sound like track conditions weren't that good. Second it sounds like you are still getting into the gas to hard and to fast if you keep them smoking all thru second. Try taking off like you are leaving a stop sign with out spinning your tires and getting into gas as fast as possible with out breaking the tires loose. If tires start to break loose lay off the gas a bit and go easy on the clutch so they can hook up. You might think about investing in some mickey thomson et streets and mounting them on a different set of rims to use while at the track.

tellin you man burn that clutch up of yours let it burn thats how we get grip in the stingray or use to do. hasnt been driven in awhile. also the way we like to do is leave with a haze id say go from a 1500 drop let teh rpms drop to about 1200 and then gently roll on the gas key word is roll not stomp not mash but roll. try this at your house or backroads do lots of burnouts to get the pavement sticky wait a few min and then try launching do it only in one place so that the rubber will be there

Practice is the key! I have an auto so its alittle easier but I have practiced many times on a back road by my house. used the seat of the pants feeling to get that launch down. You will have it with time. Just get a feel for the power and let you and the car become one!

Launching is something I have to practice. Launching a stick is like launching an auto L98. You cant just mash the gas, only once did that prove to work with me. If that is how you plan to do it, plan on sticky tires, and get a stronger rear.
