SFC and Rollcage

Hey Gang,

Gotta question for you all, I'm lookning at doing an 83 totally for the strip, and I'll be putting an 8 point cage into it. (actually, I'll be having a local chassis builder for the roundy-round guys put it in, since I don't trust my welding for something like that) . Do you feel that with the full cage that SFC's are needed, wouldn't hurt, or just be a waste of money?. It's not that I'm cheap, but I don't want to spend money on an upgrade that isn't really going to provide a good "Cost-Benefit" ratio.

TIA,

Steve

Yes put sub frame conn in. I like the south side machines my self for the simple fact you can also weld the main hoop and front down bars to them.

You need both. The roll bar/cage doesn't attach to the chassis but is only welded to 6" x 6" plates that are welded to the sheetmetal floor. The SFC tie the front and rear "subframe", if you could actually call it that on a third gen, together.

Thanks for that nice clear concise explanation. Now that I think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Might as well do it right the first time

If you go with a cage like the Competition Engineering two of the points actually tie into the SFC's.
