I Have A 13 Second Car!!!

I was soo excited when i got the slip......last time i raced my car wasn't tuned yet and still had the stock CC-QJET and didn't have any sensors hooked up and i ran a 15.2 and i was horribly disgusted.......today i went out there and swapped to the 600 edelbrock that i got and set my total timing at 34* and ran a 13.8@100mph......the car bogged off the start cuz i didnt have it all the way warmed up and also i didnt completely punch it right off the line because i didn't wanna spin off the line since mines just a one-wheel-wonder........i've always wanted my car to run 13's and now it does....im soo happy!!!!!.....can't wait to run it again and see if i can tune the carb some more and launch better.....or even swap to a bigger carb.....

here are the rest of my specs.......notice the horrible light

Reaction-------1.041
60ft-------------2.201
330ft-----------5.877
ET @ 594ft----8.387
1/8 mile ET----8.949
1/8 mile mph--79.95
1000 ET--------11.587
1/4 mile ET-----13.809

i sure hope so.......im bout to get a 650 vacuum secondary holley and a 750 double pumper holley from a coworker for a good deal....gonna swap a brand new 750 edelbrock and he is gonna give me 100 dollars plus those two carbs.....and i will see how those will do, and i also want to add a powertrax no-slip system this summer too........as for suspension.....i will probably save up and get all of that for over winter and next spring when im not driving my car.....but i DEFINATELY need a posi.....cuz with my stall converter, my car will just roast the tire if i try to launch it at full throttle....that is why i had to ease into it when i raced......

doesn't it feel great? 13.70 is my best so far with a tired 600 vacuum secondary carb. can't wait to get a double pumper on my 310 cubic inch beast!

as far as the powertrax is concerned....i'm a bit weary of them. here is what my 310 did to this one with a little wheelhop:

i know evilcartman has trashed one too.

COngrats. Im stil lsearching for 13's myself but I forsee by the end of the year both my Camaro and Mustang at the bare minimum running 13.2's or better definately.

You need to hook badly man. you 60 fts are pretty crappy. Personal experience, dont go cheap in the rear end, its what puts that power down. Spend the money in that 10 bolt and itll holdl ike none other....you can make a 10 bolt a bad beast but you gotta spend the cash and its always better in the end.

.

You can pick up some used 9 bolts (borg warners) with 3.27 gears fairly cheap. They are very strong and a posi. Although it doesn't have very deep gears, it's posi will work better than your peg leg 3.73.

9 bolts suck with any kind of power. My roommate has an 87 IROC-Z 383 w/ Vortec heads, T-56, LT's and put down 373HP/401TQ...and with his new Nitto's, he has to watch dumping otherwise its game over for it.....

the 7.5 rearends our cars came with leave alot to be desired. One reason I like my Mustang is I know my rearend will hold for quite al ong time being an 8.8......I believe 9 bolts are 8.5 (though not sure) but itll hold a little better than 10 bolts as with anything hgher than 3.73's you're asking for breakage.

9 bolts are 7.75 for the record.

you're better off with a posi of some sort then adding that powertrax... you add that and actually get traction.. it WILL break.

the problem isnt the design, same design works GREAT in other rears... its the size. it has to fit in that tiny space...

get yourself a posi, and some ETstreets... you'll be in the low 13s...

well its weird....my car will catch posi at the drag strip.......but i definately wanna go with a true posi down the road now....thanks..........and my bro has a friend with a iroc that he bracket races and he has some drag slicks that are 32 inches tall.....he said i could probably borrow them if i wanted....but i dunno if that taller sidewall will kill my low end a lot or not......i really wanna see if i can push my car into the low 13's to high 12's like it is.......

32?? um.. thats huge. 28" tires are huge in the wheel wells.... i usually run a 26" ETstreet (really its 25.......) but i have fit 28s before on 3rdgens.... i dont see how a 32" tire is going to fit.?

Umm, I don't know if you miscounted a 10 bolt instead, but the 7.75's 9-bolts are as tough, or tougher than a Dana rear.
This has been tested and proven by many racers and independant magazine tests.

I would agree with that. My car is 18 years old and I thrash on it all the time and it doesn't slip a bit. Just changed the rear end oil and barely had any metal shavings in it.
