First time in the 3.1
As stated I took my 3.1 Auto to the strip for the first time yesterday. It wasn't the best day for the track I imagine, 94* and 89% humidity, but I wanted to get an idea of numbers. Heres the best slip of the night:
R/T ... .280
60 ... .2.354
330 .. .7.010
1/8 ... .10.896
MPH .. .63.59
990 ... .14.135
1/4 ... .17.055
MPH ... .81.01
Not great by any stretch, but, still a little higher than expected. Mods are limited to:2 1/2 cat back, gutted cat, and a very cheap home made intake. Since this is the drag board I was hoping someone could give me an idea of how much humidity affects times.

But in all honesty though, thats about as good as you'll probably see. Just save up for a v8 swap.

Get yourself a turbo
Doward on the V6 forums is making 225 rwhp on an untuned turbo setup on his 3.1........that would definatlely help them 60' come down

yeah i have no doubt Dowards turbo would help me greatly. I don't really need the performance aspect of getting down the 60ft, I know what upgrades I'll need to do it. I was more interested in the technique some of you guys use when dragging. Do you shift your autos manually, or do you let the tranny shift itself. Also, the main thing would be the temp and humidity affecting times, how badly do they hurt your times.

My wife's bone stock 195,310 (at the time) 3.1 did 10.85 1/8 mile times consistantly with me and her in it. Left it in drive, floored it at the last yellow. Multiply that 1/8 figure by 1.56 (standard accepted eighth to quarter figure) and it comes out as 16.92
That was in 60 degree October weather at sea level.
The best anyone on the V6 board has done naturaly aspirated with one of these sewing machines is Alan, who's run a 14.97 with a bunch of homebrewed head work, compression, gears and cam.
