shifting my auto manually?
First off my car has no traction, my tires are terrible for drag racing. I'm getting BFG's soon asIget $. Anyways I went playin around trying to get a good launch on these crappy tires. So I tried shifting manually and had decent success I think. I brake torqued it up to about a grand in1and rolled into it and grabbed pretty good shifted at 6000 and from 2-3rd at 5500 and it seemed like the fastest 0-60 mph I've experienced in a while. It just seemed way faster. I don't know if this makes sense but I have a 93 LT1 and you can manually adjust the shifting points of the tranny. The way my mechanic has it set right now 1 seems very brief, I don't know if thats a good thing or not? But by shifting manually it seems I made it deeper, second was really quik and I seemed instantly in third. I don't really know if this is better but it sure seems like it. Maybe I just felt more one with the machine like a gear head I don't know, what do you guysa think?

Well if your tranny is short shifting then yeah it would help out alot.

if I leave it in D it shifts at 5500rpm like its suppose to but first just seems very brief. I guess I won't know until I get BFG's and can really put the hammer down off the line. Then I'll see what it'll do off the line the way it is. I don't know how these adjustments effect the performance of the vehicle?
