Race 400 head gaskets

Alright, I've been told several different things concerning head gaskets and steam holes on my 406. The guy who built my short block said I should run fel pro 1004 gaskets, and dont drill steam holes in the heads because they will crack. The 1004's dont have steam holes anyways, so thats kind of redundant, I know.

Second thing I was adimently (sp?) told by some fellow racers was to DO run steam holes in the heads or bad things would happen.

So now I come to hopefully get the final low down on this. Which gasket should I run and steam holes or no? This motor wont really see any street time, iron heads, 11:1 compression, shooting for a hair under 500hp.

You can put it together with out the steam holes. I have some friends running theirs this way with out any problems.
