First time at Track

I have 89Gta 350 TPI. It has 193000 miles and has never been raced. I was wondering what to expect. So please go to 1989 Pontiac Trans Am - sean's Pontiac and vote on how you think my car will performe. Also I'm trying to find out what bolt-ons are the best to start with to get the best results.......fast. There a 98 Mustang GT that runs 13.6 and I really wan't to beat it in a grudge match. Short on cash and I have until July 2nd to come up with the money and the mods...Thanks

and atleast a 3" catback of your choice
2800stall converter
shift kit
3.42 or 3.73 gears
sticky tires
port/simese tpi stuff
PROM tuning!
roller rockers

and ofcourse a full tuneup

this stuff should net you easy mid 13's

You will need close to full bolt ons. Id say go with 3.42's.

if you want that far into the 13s for cheap then forget the mods and just put the hose to it. Nitrous Oxide!

You got until July 2 to run mid 13s Man you need lots and lots of money! I really suggest you do the work yourself to save money. If you don't need to pass emission then I get rid of the smog pump equip stuff, AC if you can bare it, back seat and spare tire. Port out your intake as much as possible. If you can go with long tube headers and custom exhaust that will open up that 350.
I'm pretty sure your trying to do a budget build so these are items I think are a must have for 13's

B&M shift kit $75

3.73 gears although it can be done with 3.42 $124 ebay an $89 installtion kit.

Lockup torque converter 2400 to 2600 stall prices vary from $130 ebay to $500.

I $168 B&M shifter works well with a shift kit.

1.6 rocker arms $89 to $189 ebay a must have easy hp.

If you can do the work yourself a computer friendly cam like a LT1 profile.

Some custom chip work.

Some $300 SLP runners won't hurt either.

So do you think you can come up with about $2000 and have it all done by July? It possible!

Like I said, for $500 and one weekend of work, hit the laughing gas and go mid to low 13s
