I went to a thursday night test n' tune. Track prep was decent but not great, it hooked well but was still spinning a little. It kept running better and better every pass, I've had to relearn how to drive the car after the changes I made over the winter. The last pass I was shifting at 7200rpm's, it keeps going faster the higher I shift it so far. I stopped at 7200 tonight...I'm happy with the time I got. Not bad for the 2nd time out and no real tuning yet other than figuring out how to drive it. I still haven't put the Hooker LT's on yet either, still running the Hedman LT's.

i got stuck at work all night but a friend of mine was out with his white 75 camaro and said he seen you run. He said it ran really good, but did notice that it seemed to keep pulling to one side on your launches. He asked me if your car was a posi or a spool and I couldn't remember. His did the same thing last year then he switched to a spool and no more problems. The posi wasnt out but wasnt holding perfect either and letting one side slip causing it to step out. Congrats on the new best, maybe Ill make it out next week.
I have an Eaton posi. There was a couple of runs where it wanted to pull right but on others it stayed straight. I was experimenting with different launch techniques to see what worked best...I need to eventually get a spool. My car weighed 3275 last year with about 3/4 tank of gas and without me of course. It probably weights just a little less this year since I removed the power steering.
spool it and put in those new headers...hello 10.9's!!!!man, great job bro! i can't wait to see this thing in person (still trying to figure out how to get my own car up north)

Thanks man, hopefully I'll make it into the 10's this year. The car budget is shot this year with a baby on the way but I think I can still make it.Originally Posted by mw66nova

Its going to be a girl, she's due on Aug 18th. Yea I'm hoping to get her started into some kind of racing if she has the interest.Originally Posted by mw66nova

Congrats on the kid. I hope you will still make to some events this summer so I can check out the car. There is a good chance we are racing Super Chevy this year. We built my new motor and a whole new car this winter. I have not had time to make babies, not much to even pratice either, LOL.

Thanks, I should be racing at Super Chevy this year and at NFME if you are going to either of those events. And of course some Sunday bracket racing. If you don't know about NMFE heres a link to it. I'm looking forward to checking out your car and seeing it run.Originally Posted by 355gta

Awesome man, congrats to see your times getting down there. I think i'm gonna do a similar combo only except it will be a 406... i'd love to have times like that.

We are going to IRP tomorrow for the F-bodies. I hope I can meet up with some of you.

apparently I got my dates mixed up and missed it. That sux. Oh well, i guess I will have to wait until next year.

The F-body event was great. Alot of nice cars and nice people too. I got to ride along on the road course event, that was a blast. Bad news is I think I spun a bearing. Oil pressure is low and there was a lot of metal in the oil filter. I've got the motor out now but haven't got it apart yet for damage inspection.Originally Posted by 355gta

Your combination is kinda of messed up and your over winding it to compensate, you dhould'nt need to spin that thing past 6500MAX to achieve high 10 sec passes.
Based on your sig these changes would make a HUGE difference in overall performance:
1984 Camaro F41 383CID (street driven on pump gas)
11:1, 256/260 .627/.622 solid/roller, Ported Dart Pro 1(215cc) , Vic Jr, Promax 750DP, Hedman LT, dual 3in exh, Yella Terra shaft mount rockers
BIGGER CARB first and foremost
throw out the formula's for carb sizing, they're severly under rated as are the carbs being sold from Holley/Proform for actual wet flow cfm. Your combination could easily handle a standard 830 or 850DP or you could step up to a 950HP for the best all around carb for speed, streeetablity, and repeatablity at the track. Gasket match your intake if you have'nt already...big gains there opening up the ports where they meet the head and blending under the carb area, if your not already, experiement with a 2" open plenium spacer to increase air speed into the runners. You wont see a huge gain stepping up to the Hooker Super Comps, but it will help and change the curve a little bit so it wont be a total waste of time, it just wont be the "majic mod" that one would thinkCoan TH-350, 3500 stall, rev. full man. valve body
with your duration @.050 you should really have a convertor that flashes to 5000rpm, since you still street drive it you can order a 10" that will be on the raged edge to achieve that high of a stall speed, but at least it will be easy to drive on the road and deliver the goods on the track
Moser 12 bolt w/3.73 gears, Spohn TA, subframe con., LCA rel. brkts, 6pt roll bar, 90/10 Koni struts, 50/50 shocks, Moroso trick springs, MT 27x10.5 ET St.
if you increase your stall speed/flash point to optimize/match cam a gear change will REALLY help excentuate it too. what rpm are/(were) you trapping currently at the finish line? cant imagine it much over 6200rpm unless your convertor had some slippage issues. A 4.10 with your 27 or 28" tire will work perfectly for running N/A and using engines power band effeicently. If your going to use the juice in the future then maybe keep current gear and step upto a 28" tire so you dont run out of rpm by the finish line. but with combo in sig it defiantely needs a lil more convertor and gear to truely be optimized and there is no need to run it that high in rev's to achieve the times your running. Your car is light enough and engine should produce enough grunt down low to get that thing moving the first 1/8 so your not winding it to death. engines dont live on high rpm's as you've found out
1/4 mile 11.23@120.9mph (1.55 60')
your mph is definately there for some 11.00 passes, tweak the combination behind the engine and there is no reason as light as you are, it should'nt be running consistant high 10's

Thanks for the suggestions IHI, I know my current combo is a little mismatched. The 383 started life a lot more mild a few years ago and after recent changes its a lot different. Now I need to match the carb, gears ect. to the engine to optimize it. So I'm probably over revving to make up for the lack of gearing ect...now I just need some more $ for parts
I'm going through the traps around 6000-6200rpms now
