The weather looks like it is going to be dry tonight!!! It is going to be hot and the air will prolly suck, but at least I should be able to get the car down the track a few times. Hopefully I can stack some #'s together, there is a big race at the track the last weekend of August that I want to run in. I'll update on how the car runs later on this weekend.

keep your eyes on Brisk as he just put together a hot little tpi 305. it's got an lt4 hotcam. then there is a tunedport335, who's car is 305 BASED. there is another guy on the boards building a hot TBI 305 with the new trickflow 305 heads. and then there is Fast355, who has another 400+hp 305. (mine's making ~415 at the crank, i want to say Fast355's is making ~421 or so)

You guys just what until I unleash my HSR 327! I'm still learning how to use this 950 commander ECU programmer. Its funny because the only program the engine wants to take is stock 305 settings. lol

yes, how did you miss that? mid 12's actually and i have nearly no tuning on the car with only 2 passes under it's belt since the rebuild. i'm searching for 11.999 n/a.
113 casting aluminum vette heads with a mild bowl blend
crane powermax solid cam 238*/248* @ .050 .480"/.500" 114 lobe serparation.
car is on Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials (drag radials) and nearly stock suspension...i boxed the lca's, put on a set of lca relocation brackets, poly t/a mount and tranny mount and a spohn non-adjustable panhard rod (cause my stock one was bent, otherwise i'd probably still be running the stocker!)

So whats the differents in that combo compared to when your 310 was running low 13's?
Also I've been thinking about a 4000 stall too so how does it act on the street? Is going from stop light to stop light a problem? How high are you able to stall to at the track?

i can foot brake the converter to ~2300, but it flashes to 4K right at launch. going from stop light to stop light is no issue, though it's a bit different than driving a stock converter.
the difference is i went from a 4.10 to a 3.73 (it needs to go back, i changed it for the larger engine that i ended up breaking), it's got 113 vette heads instead of the bone stock 416's and the cam is different. the old one was a 214*/224* .442/.465 cam and it was a hydrualic cam and this one is a solid cam. like i said, the old combo was tuned to the max, i just needed better air to go 12.9's. i have only a little tuning in this combo now and the two passes i've made so far were in crappy air. i'm hoping with good air that i'll be in the 12.3x range and with more tuning and tweaking it'll run 12.0x/11.9x...at least, that's the plan, i have no idea if it's really obtainable, but i know i got the power/potential to run low 12's for sure.

low 13's had a 230/230 .480/.480 cam and 416 iron heads.

Yeah windshield and ttop are in. I did learn that there is some differences in a 92 ttop compared to an 84! I made it all work ok though. I did put up a new best 60 ft time. The air was horrible last night and I didn't take my jet pack with me, so the car was running super rich. My best time was a horrible 14.5
I know that there is a ton more left in the little motor, I've just got to take a full night to tune on it. I definetely need to put a high torque starter in that thing. It didn't want to crank very good last night! I'm heading back to the track the 3rd weekend in Aug. So, I've got a few things that I need to get done before then. When are you headed back to the track matt?

well, it looks like i'm going home this week! finally! not sure when the next runs will be made as i've got some other cars i gotta get going first, though i'd like to see about maybe next friday or saturday. i'm gonna mill the choke horn off my 650 main body and do a few other tricks here and there and i'm hoping for some .3x's in the night air.
a 14.5 isn't bad though for the first real full passes yet though eh? i mean, what was the last passes you made, like 15.x's or something right? it's improving and that's what matters! next time don't leave your carb stuff at home, there's not excuse for that kwik and you know it! now you know i'm just ribbin' ya a bit, but i gotta give ya a hard time about that!

So when you say it flashes do you mean as soon as you stop footbraking it shoots to 4000? I'm just trying to find the perfect combo for my 327 I've got a hyd tappet 230/480 lift cam with 1.6 rr's. An I've read in other forums guys like to run a 4000 stall and 4.10 gears with that setup.
So when you say stop light to stop light is not a problem but different so how does it take off? You know just going from 0 to 45mph.

it's just like stock really, but the loose converter takes up the shock of the shifts so you don't feel them as much and stuff. it's hard to explain, i'd have to let you drive the car.
it needs more gear cause i'm only going through the traps at ~5300rpms and i need to be going through at like 6200rpms.
as far as a converter for your own car, give someone like ATI or BTE a call and have them build you one for the combo. it'll work far better doing it that way then getting an off the shelf converter. that's how i did mine and when i stomp on it from a dead stop, it flashes right to 4K.

Yeah I should've had my jet pack with me, don't know how i missed it when i was loading up. What gets me is that I was .1 better to the 60, but 4 mph and .2 slower to the eigth. I know it was because of the weather and the carb issue, so I know the car should be good for at least mid 8th's in the 1/8, hopefully I can pull out a mid 13 with it in few weeks, or I'm going to miss the big race at my local track the end of august.
Can't wait to hear some new times from ya matt.

Sorry to hear about the job man. Hope that all goes well with Walter Racecraft. Are you going to do everything end to end or are you going to specialize on a certain area or type of car? I am also getting ready to start up my own as well, now that I have a garage (that is almost cleaned out since moving in

with the exception of body work and paint, i hope to be able to do everything with emphasis on 3rd and 4th gen f-bodies, though i can work on mustangs and the like too. my EFI knowledge is limited but i know suspension theory like the back of my hand. the slogan is "Specializing in Domestic Rear Wheel Driven Performance" as i'll be working on full size chevies, camaros, firebirds, mustangs, and the like. i'm hoping to bring some of the old skool back. no-one my age (21) does carb stuff much and i'm letting my results with my combos speak for themselves. it's gonna be a LONG process, but i'm super passionate about it and i'm willing to work a part-time to support it. right now i only have enough jobs to keep me busy for the next three weeks, but i figure that's enough for now, and i'll get more before my 3 weeks are up. i hope to get to the track (depending on funds of course) every friday night as that's where my clientel will hang, not on saturday bracket racing. i'm getting some decals made up and most of my buddies want one for every car they own. (SWEET!) that's pretty much it i suppose.
