too hot?

I really want to go to the track tonight to test out my new setup - 250 shot with my rebuilt T5. Haven't sprayed yet. No faith in the T5 lasting long, but what the heck?

However, forecast temps are mid 90's with heat index of 100 - 105.

Is this too hot? Would I just be wasting my time?

Any input is appreciated.

Yea, forget about it. You definatley will not lay down a new best, and the track will be real greasy. Two weeks ago I went when it was 94*, and humid, my helmet was even soaked from sweating. Wait till a better day. Not real fun in the heat.

It's never "too" hot but days like that I want to go out in the first round. Sitting in a black car on the asphalt in a 2 layer fire suit is hard on the body. If you do decide to go, don't expect any personnel best runs.

When I used to run my daily driver truck on days like that, as soon as I crossed the finish line, the AC was turned on and I cruised back to the pits in comfort.

Well, I decided to go. . .sheesh. 1/8 mile track - Eddyville Raceway, Eddyville, IA

95 degrees at the beginning, 91 by the time the track closed. You're right on the money - track was greasy as sin. I usually 60' @ 1.5X, but couldn't get better that a 1.77, and that was only twice. As the night went on, my 60's started going 1.8X.

So I only shot 150 (figured 250 would've been a waste because of track conditions) with my progressive controller set up for 0% initial and 100% @ 7 sec.

Here's the (best) results:
60': 1.82
330': 4.95
660' (1/8): 7.43 @98

ET wise, that's only a tenth better than my best on motor (7.55). Speed wise it's 8 mph better. So, I'm losing all my ET from the lousy 60.

I figure 98 in the 1/8 ought to be good for at least 7.1X.

. . .and I'm being told to remove the front sway bar to help with weight transfer.

Opinions?
