I just bought an 87 trans am with a 305, its got some kick but it aint no speed demon if you know what i mean. Its a sick car but im lookin to get into some drag racin with my friends and i want to know what single parts would help me get alot more torque and power. I aint really conserned with top speed so much, i just want better acceleration up to about 80 or 90. Some more off the line power wouldnt hurt either. i also have aa automatic transmition so it aint chuggin like i want it to. got beat my a stang gt the other day and in a couple weeks i want to take this guy down, it was a close one but he got me in the begining by about 2 cars and i couldnt catch up. Please Help me!!!

 

what mods does it have now? All stock?

Bump timing up about 3 degrees, 160 thermostat, Upgrade airbox - either get one from new 90-92 T/A or cusom build one - better yet..
Cut screens from Mass Air and Free flowing exhaust..

Will see lots of gain from just that alone.. Probably a good 30 HP. something you will feel.. Timing - may need to watch fuel, or just bump up at track or when you need it... Mass air screens can give you a lean idle, usually not any problem at all though - nothing you can't live with.. Exhaust - all good... If it has 3.08 or lower num. gears go 3.42's - 3.73's you will love them.
