8.98 1/8th exhaust and chip is that good.

Well after installing the superchip I got a 8.98 with a 1.98 60 ft and at 76.77 mph. Does that mean my car will do low 14's in a 1/4? Is this a good time for the mods I have and how much will underdrive pulleys help? Car idles and runs alot better. I have underdrive pulleys to install I will post to let you guys know what kind of increase I had with them.

I have a question I was running with a 97 Trans Am LT1 bone stock other then functional ram air hood and BFG drag radials. He was running 9.4's all night. He then hooked up his 50 hp shot of nitrous and pulled off a 8.47 with a 2.23 60ft. Is a 9.4 slow for a 97 Trans AM and will a 50 shot really knock a second off your e.t?

Thanks

Jason

sounds good for your car!
for the LT1 car i will say its slow. lol no excuse to be getting that bad of a 60' on a bfg. even on bone stock suspension. also, picking up a full second i would say he was spraying more like a 100 shot.

i would say that 1/8 is deffintately good for low14's my 2000 grandprix gt with100 shot w/ LS1 MAF ran 8.83 1/8 and 13.89 1/4 with 1.97 60 ft, so i know you're REAL close to that

cool I am hoping for 13's now. But people say that when 3rd hits it doesnt pull as hard so we will see. I figure once I get those underdrive pulleys on I will lose another tenth so maybe i will hit theh 13's.

i've always heard that a 100 shot will drop you about a sec in the 1/4 never heard abut the 1/8

That's a good ET and 60' time for your mods. I ran anywhere from 13.98-14.11 in the 1/4 with an 1/8 time in the 8.9s. 9.4 for a 97 Trans Am is not so hot.

yeah 9.4 was bad. I hit that with only a catback. Turns out I have several burned plug wires. One has burnt all the way thru the insulation like it is black every where else except there it is red LOL. So I am betting that hurt my performance too. Going to replace the spark plugs and wires and install my underdrive pulleys. I might wait to do the pulleys after I run it with new plugs and wires to see if it really makes a difference.

Any suggestions on plugs and wires?
I was thinking MSD wires and AC Delco plugs.
Anyother plugs worth looking at that arent like crazy expensive?

Thanks
Jason

#1) 1.98@60' is real good for your car(with street tires?)
#2)8.98@76.77 should have been better with your 60' times and the mph should have been at least 82-85, unless it was luggin past 2nd gear.
#3)'97 lt1 bone stock w/ drag RADIALS should be running 9.4's to mid/high 9's
#4) 2.23@60' with 50 shot of NOS and drag radials= he was either spinning on the line(not likely) or he fell asleep at the tree
#5)8.47 @1/8th is about right with 50 shot for a BONE stock 97 LT1( maybe could have been around 8.30/8.40), but with his lousy ET, he might could have been faster
#6) 25 or 30 shot can make you at least 1/2 to a sec faster, depending on your redline.

I have run 8 flat before on my all motor honda. But it was built for the track.

2. tpi car trapping 82-85? pshh!
3. LT1 bone stock with dr's should be running 8.9's or faster. your like a second off.
4. what does sleeping at the tree have to do with 60' time?
6. you have got to be kidding me.

That 1/8 is good for about a 14 flat in the ¼…, that’s not too bad… with a cat back and cold air intake I ran a best of 13.59@100 in my formula 350 (1/4, should be about an 8.7 1/8, looking at the time slip that pass actually had an 8.65 1/8mile), low 1.8 60’ on normal radials….

9.4’s is awful for that TA. I have a ’97 WS6 TA (should be similar but with added ram air, which supposedly doesn’t work as well as a cold air intake, the thing is fully optioned also, race weight it is well over 4K lbs), and I’ve run a best of 13.003@106.98 (roughly an 8.3 1/8mile)with nothing but 4.10 gears (even a stock exhaust), high 1.7 60’s on normal radials, 1.70-1.71’s on nittos. That car ran high/mid 11’s @119mph with a 150hp shot of spray.

My 89 GTA 350/700r4/3.27gear was doing 9.0s @77 with a good tune up and only catback without the cat. The only other mods that made a noticeable difference after that was headers, and pocket porting of the heads. I also installed an underdrive pulley for the crank (not alternator). The time did decrease and mph was up, but don't recall how much. Ended up with 8.4s @ 81mph. 60' best was 1.89 I believe, with Drag Radials.

yeah I ran a 9.237 with just a catback only dropped to a 9.147 after headers and dropped to a 8.9 with the chip. But i am only getting 1.98 and 2.0's 60 ft's cant launch it hard. It is a full set of undrive pulleys from bbk (3 piece). Plus I am doing a tune up too. I believe I will be able to knock a few more tenths off with that.

Plus I have been told by some serious race guys that Jackson Drag is at least 1-2 tenths slower then other tracks. I am going to see if I can pass inspection at Memphis Motor Sports and give it a try out there.
