not so great nite at the track vid inc.

to start off it was cold and traction was hard to come by. anyway 1st pass spin the tires bad cut a 1.41 60 goes 9.10@150.6 not bad.

so we adjust the front end limiters to try and get more weight on the rear of the car well i guees we went a little to far. stood the car on the bumper again.
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=2022092869
1st pass 9.10@150.6
2nd run wheelstand ran 12.2 hahah we gave the vette a second head start cause it runs 9.95 and we wanted a close race
3rd run 9.12@150.4

on the 3rd run the hinges broke on the top of the window and the wind got under the glass and ripped the lexan window, deck lid, and wing right the *** off the car. scary and loud as hell when it happened at a buck fitty

heres some pics of the damage

Re: not so great nite at the track vid inc.

That's why when I installed my Lexan rear window I went like a rear race car style. Not recommended for the faint at heart. The entire seal lip for the rear window is cut out flush to the outside skin. The Lexan window is then slid under the skin and riveted to the body. That way there's no way for air to get under it. Paint the rivet heads the same as the car color and they're not as noticeable.

Nice wheel stand. Any underside damage?

I'm actually scared to see what my car will do with the new 4 link suspension and 32 x 14 slicks. I don't race until Father's day and I'm already considering getting some wheelie bars.

Re: not so great nite at the track vid inc.

stephen the only thing that happened was the front right plastic wheelwell cover broke, which we just pulled out. bent the shifter linkage alittle but that was an easy fix. and believe me this window will be much more secure this time!!!

orr89rocz i'll find out whats done to it. friends on another board know all about the car, it hauled azz thouh

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was, "Oh, no, not the Shafiroff!" Glad to hear it wasn't that.

You guys are a whole bunch faster than I am, but I never would have imagined a simple limiter change would put you up on the back bumper like that. Although, there was this '89 Vette last year. . .

Any possibility your window problem was caused by the hard landing?

Speaking of Vettes, that's a whole bunch of work to have been done already on a 2007 model. Some people must have a money tree in their back yard. I sure don't!

actually one of the hatches on the top of the window gave(either broke or rotted) away and the corner lifted and that was that. the landing may have contributed but who knows. i've already ordered all new parts window, fiberglass deck and a new wing.
nothing will keep me down!!!!!!!

Re: not so great nite at the track vid inc.

thanks all! nothing that a little time and about 800 bucks to fix. i will definately be fasteners around the window this time. they were stock hinges i was using. for some reason the pin came out on the pass side and caught the air. i took pics and driver side has the pin in it passenger has hole right thru it. and the pin was in 2 pieces. don't know if that was the design on not but anyway oh well thats racing.

Re: not so great nite at the track vid inc.

I was wondering how much travel you had in the limiters on that bumper pass . i have 3" travel set in mine right now, and want to take a bunch out before i start to hit the new motor with the bottle now.
