What a weekend!!! (HELP)
Alright friday night T&T car is running strong, well, strong for what the car has done in the past, with a little tweaking to the timing only, I had the car running 13.62 @ 100. Not bad, feels like it should have ALOT more, considering my best 60ft. was a 2.02!
Wake up saturday and start to get everything ready, first pass I didn't get up on the convertor ran a TERRIBLE pass, MPH is still there though, decide to try and dial in a little more timing, car slowed slightly, so I backed it off for my 3rd run. I do my burnout, stage, launch feels OK, shift light comes on, pull 2nd gear, and, about 5K into 2nd----BANG-----. Coast to the return road, try to crank the car over, and nothing. Pull back to the trailer to check it out real quick, come to find out, my brand new 12 passes on it Trick Flow cam is now broke.
Got the car into the garage this evening, and started to tear into it, one broke lifter, one lifter that will NOT come out, and, from what I can see, it appears that the cam is in at least 3 pieces!!!!
I called Summit and they are going to warranty the cam, question is...what cam do I put back in? I need some input....Car weighs 2980 race weight, 3.73 gear TH400, 3500 Convertor, ported 416's with 1.94 intake valves, Compression is ~11.0:1, Weiand X-celerator intake, 650 DP carb. I am planning on reusing all existing parts, just need some cam reccomendations.

Re: What a weekend!!! (HELP)
Ok, the 305 is junk, when the cam broke, which after I got it tore apart is from throwing a rod!
Now it is time to build the 350. Going with a quick simple rebuild, ported
416's, 9.5 compression, car specs are still the same, 7546 weiand intake (for now). What should I be looking for as far as a cam goes, I have a 228* @.050 .472" setting on the shelf, or should I be looking for something like the Comp 280, or I was also looking at a Lunati Voodoo that is 227*/233* .489"/.503" Anyone got some ideas?? FWIW I am looking at switching to a RPM intake in the near future.

You could buy my engine too
Quick and simple you say, try out the cam you have in hand. You can always swap it out later if you want more. What are you looking for performance wise with the 350?

Re: What a weekend!!! (HELP)
I think it was really on its way there. I flat blew the tires away on the 13.6 pass, I really think if I could have hooked that would have been a low 13 pass. I hadn't even really started tuning on it yet, timing was the only thing I had been playing around with, was waiting to start in on tuning the carb. Oh well, guess it's time to step up to a few more cubes! Hopefully I'll have the new engine ready to go within a month. Do you know anyone who needs 6 good pistons and a boat anchor???

Re: What a weekend!!! (HELP)
MW sorry these are the domed KB pistons pn 144, I took them out last night the look fine. If you know of anyone wanting a partial set let me know.
IHI, I was unsure about the cam being the real problem, but, I was hoping! Luckily the heads ecscaped injury, other than 1 small mark on the edge of the combustion chamber. Luckily when the rod went it took out the cam and kept the valves shut. I pressure checked the head and they are OK. I don't know how, just happy they are as my machine shop is about a month behind right now.
