Trying to get the most out of my 350

Right now I have a 350 TPI. Over the winter, I am switching to carb and upgrading the top end. Basically, I am looking to get the most out of my stock bottom end without revving over 6000 RPM. (I figure that's about all it can handle safely)

My options so far are as follows:

HEADS: Does anybody know how much lift these can handle?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=002

CAM:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...02%2D8&FROM=MG
I want to use this one but unsure if the lsa will affect performance.

Otherwise:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...33%2D8&FROM=MG

I was also considering the Comp cams magnum camshaft

LIFTERS:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5%2D16&FROM=MG

Rockers:
Comp cams pro magnum, 1.6 ratio, full roller

INTAKE:
Edelbrock performer RPM air gap

CARB: I know nothing about carbs!

What do you think of all that? I'm open to any suggestions. I just want a combo that is going to work well, and make a lot of NA power. I want to be able to say, "it's just a 350" lol

I was thinking all that plus some suspension upgrades (right now all stock) I could be in the low-mid 12's?

Well i cant get on ebay (gov computer) so i dont know about the heads.
On the cams, i would opt for the second one of the two. and the lifters will be fine. The rockers look good too. Dont forget about pushrods (may need a different length). Air gap intake is good too. that carb look good, 750 DP should be right. You can easily be in the 12's with heads/cam and carb swap, on sticky tires and some suspension upgrades

Re: Trying to get the most out of my 350

Both those cams are pretty big, the first one is a retro-fit roller, you want one for a factory roller. Both will want to be shifted at well over 6k. the xr276hr-10 would be the biggest I'd go if you wanted to keep it around 6k and it might even want 6300.

I like everything else though. Just look through summit for max lift numbers or email the guy.

Any plans to come out to NYIRP again this year?

Yea, i'd avoid the thumpr line of cams, that's just an advertising thing. The second choice, the xe roller cam should work nicely.
The heads were AFR 195's off ebay. That would definately be a good choice.
Holley 750cfm double pumper? Sounds good.
I'd skip buying lifters, your stock ones are fine. There's nothing to be gained in "upgrading" those.
I'd be worried about the 5 speed crapping out on you next.

Re: Trying to get the most out of my 350

Wheelzup- Yup, i'm gonna get a pushrod length checker. That'll be the last thing I get.

327???- I probably won't be going to NYIRP this year (still possible). Definately a couple times next year. After the gear swap, the car doesn't cruise at highway speeds as nicely as it used to. Also, baby coming soon. (due in september) I don't want to be 2 hours away from home when baby comes! The woman comes with me to all races!!

Sonix- I thought the stock lifters only work up to .500 lift?
Yup, tranny will be next. It is already a little weird on me sometimes. Popping out of 2nd on downshifts.

Thanks, Any suggestions on pushrods? or just depends on preference?

Re: Trying to get the most out of my 350

Lifters? No, they don't have any limits on lift that I know of...? Does the spider interfere or something? Maybe someone with some intimate knowledge of this can chime in.
Were you thinking of rockers? Those might not like more than ~.500" lift, but you already mentioned replacing those so...

Not to my knowledge. There is a bunch of guys running over .500 with stock lifters. I am going to be pushing upwards of .570 on mine. *Grin*

I can understand that, if you do come shoot me a PM. Congratulations on the baby!

Make sure to get hardened pushrods, any brand, I personally use a set of comp's.

Bah, you don't need to fix the speedo. Mine hasn't been right since I owned the car.

I'll just tape a piece of paper over the old numbers with the right ones
