valve covers...
as many of you know i had an incident last week with my motor mounts and my motor torqued over far enough to make my valve cover hit my rocker arms. i cant get them to stop now. what are you guys running for valve covers? i need a tall set but they also need to fit my serpentine setup and i have had problems in the past with them hitting the bolt on the back of my alternator. pics would be nice and suggestions would be great.

if they hit the bolt on the back of the alternator why don't you just clock it over? Or dimple the valve covers if it's a big problem.

Re: valve covers...
For a race only engine, mount the alternator backwards. I can't fit mine on in the standard way because of the front motor plate and because I use an electric water pump. I flipped the alternator around and installed it backwards. The alternator doesn't care which way it spins but for street use it can overheat because the cooling fins are spinning the wrong way.
Having the motor plates makes it easier to mount the alternator anywhere. The adjuster is mounted to the frame rail. Nothing moves so the adjustment won't move.
If you have the room, buy a low mount kit and install the alternator down beside the block. My BBC and front motor plates prevent me from doing this or I would have done it a long time ago.

i think i found the problem. some one told me that valve covers are designed to go one way. not sure how true that is but i know its backwards from how it was. i clearenced the inside so hopefully i wont have anymore problems. i should have anymore problems with the engine torqueing over due to my solid motor mounts. hopefully problem is solved.
