1/8 Mile E.T Estimate

My car is a 1982 trans am with a 305 out of a 80s chevy 1/2 ton pick-up. it has a Edelbrock EPS performer intake, 600 Edelbrock carb, MSD HEI streetfire distributor, Flowtech 1 1/2 shorty headers, 2 1/2" single exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series muffler, Moroso solid motor and trans mounts. It has a borg-warner T-10 4-speed trans with 3.23 rear end gears, it has Lakewood LCA, lakewood 50/50 drag shocks, Edelbrock control arm relocation brackets, Edelbrock torque arm, Edelbrock panhard bar.
The battery is mounted it the trunk?

High 15's in the quarter, not to sure what that comes out to in the 1/8.

Re: 1/8 Mile E.T Estimate

Castlegar ? Cool.
What an oddball combination of parts you've got going there eh?
The 4 speed for 1982 Borg warner is actually the T-10, not the M24. Assuming that first gear is left and FORWARD, not back, correct?

I agree with that time guess. Your mods don't really add any horsepower, maybe 10-20HP at the most, with a barebones 140HP 305 you might be looking at 160HP optimistically.

The battery is mounted it the trunk and the front sway bar has been removed?

Basically what you have is a stock truck engine, with stock truck heads, with a shiney stock replacement aluminum manifold. On top of that you have a carb that performs a little worse than stock. Spacer is worth nothing on this setup, IMO. Spark probably isnt an issue on an engine of this RPM range anyway, but I am sure the dizzy is pretty. The headers are not the best, but still better than manifolds. The exhaust is pretty much a stock piece though, to be honest. Minus cat with more noise. The suspension stuff would help, if the car had a traction problem anyway. I would guess high 15s low 16s.

Re: 1/8 Mile E.T Estimate

I ran my bone stock IROC vert last summer. With a full tank of gas, I had a 15.92@85 mph. my 1/8 time was 10.1440 with a 2.27 60" time. A couple low 16 passes were mid to low 10's for the 8th. No mods what so ever, still has the original exhaust on it.

Re: 1/8 Mile E.T Estimate

My guess: 10.34 in the 1/8.

Don't be discouraged, take it to the track on street night and find out. Get a good base line and start tinkering. Nothing more fun than adding parts and going back and seeing how much difference that part ACTUALLY made.

Good Luck
Dan

Dang, I was looking and thinking, 'I don't remember posting on this thread' then I looked at the date, it's been over a year! You really need to get out the track more often
