3rd Gen or 4thGen Whose faster

Ok, so i have a 91 z28 with a new 350 TPI crate built by TPIS. A 700r4 with a shift kit. My Motor has about 340-360 hp and 390-410 ft lbs of torque. I don't know exactly what i weigh. But I think around 3,300 lbs. I also have a full 3" exhuast.

I know of a person with a mid 90's Firebird Formula. And all i know is that it has an exhuast on it... nothing big, but it has one. Not sure about the Trans

He is really cocky and at the time he wanted to race me i was running late for a test.

What do you guys think?

Oh and What does anyone think that my camaro would run in a 1/4 mi? Just Wondering

if its a "mid" 90's, then ill assume its an lt1, and with just exhaust. you should be able to smoke him with youre 400ft lbs. if an ls1 with exhaust and a good driver, it be a good close race, ud probably get em off the line though. so if ls1 keep it a short n sweet race off the line.. if the lt1 run em... post results after the race..

If you have a new stock TPI with just exhaust/shiftkit, then good luck. The LT1s can move, but weigh more, and have a bit less bottom end. If you can get him out of the whole, you should be good. Stick some sticky tires on there, and kill him on the dig

My ’97 WS6 (LT1) is way better below 3000 and above 4600 than either my L98 or LB9. Contrary to popular belief, TPI is no low end torque monster and only really good in a very narrow tuned “frequency.” If you want a low end torque monster you should have taken my crossfire TA for a ride.

OTOH, with an auto and 3.27 gears besides coming off the line you can pretty much keep an L98 car in that range the whole way down the track. I’ve run a 13.5@100 in my L98+auto Formula (just a cold air intake and exhaust), and a 13.0@107 in my LT1+M6 TA(4.10 gears, underdrive pulley, rev limiter moved to 6400rpm). I suspect that with a 3000-3200stall converter the L98 car would run pretty close to 13 flat @ about 103, which should be pretty close to what the WS6 TA should run with an auto, and the LT1 is easily in the mid 13’s without the gears and rev limiter change.

Point being, WRT to the original question, it should be a tossup, either could run a similar time, in a race the outcome would depend on the driver.
