calling radialtireking

I have almost the same front suspension set up as you. I am running spohns front pro drag coilovers, 90/10 lakewood struts, 4" front rims, and a spool in the rear. Now my question is how hard is it for you to turn your car say 90 degrees from a stop? I almost have to do a three point turn to turn from a stop sign. I think that I have to bleed the power steering because I ran it dry over the winter but how hard is your car to turn with the front skinnies and coil overs? It almost like my cars turning radius decreased by half, if I force the wheel any harder it feels like it is in a bind?

the spool will always fight the car to make a super sharp turn. When I swapped to running slicks all the time, then it wasn't as bad because the sidewall has more give to it.

The spool will make it harder to turn but it sounds like maybe there is more to your problem.

Is it hard to turn your steering wheel when the car is sitting still? With skinnies and power steering it should turn with little effort. If it turns hard when the car is not moving I would look into your steering components and uper strut mounts for something binding. My car isn't that hard to steer and it has a manual rack in it.

As for your turning radius feeling decreased that maybe from the spool causing the car to push. Did you just put the spool in or have you driven it with the spool before the front suspension changes?

The front suspension changes on there own should not make it steer harder than it did before if you are using the same steering box. What all did you change at the same time?

Re: calling radialtireking

I put the spool and front coil overs on over the winter so I really do not know what the steering should feel like. I can tell you that at a stop I have to two hand ithe wheel to even attempt to turn. I also looked at the upper strut mounts and the driverside spring is hitting the factory hole for the strut to go through, but I will be aligning the car Friday and I hope it fixes that problem. I had to pull my engine and disconect the power steering this winter so I think that I also got a lot of air in the lines, after I drove it the fluid was all foamed up, I am also going to bleed the system ASAP.

Re: calling radialtireking

I would see how it feels after bleeding the ps and gettting it aligned. Both things could be contributing to your problem. Since it turns hard sitting still that eliminates the spool from that part of the problem. It will be harder to get the car to go around a corner with the spool but it shouldn't affect how hard it is to turn the steering wheel.

Re: calling radialtireking

my spohn kit rubbed on the passenger side.
if you aligned the spohn plates correctly, it should just be the lil inner lip where its rolled from the factory. about 2 seconds with the air chisel and mine is 100% clear.
i had a thud everytime id hit the gas, or get on the brakes. thought it would go away, but no.
good luck!
