13s finally

Ran a 13.91 on the first run and then two 13.88s @ 97 mph. The car has a Crane 2032 powermax cam and LT headers w/true duals. If anyone else is running a 13.8, could you post your time slip so I can compare it. This is the first time the car has run 13s with this setup, the egr valve was bad and causing all kinds of problems, finally figured out what it was and just put a block-off plate on there. So now that I have that figured out I can start working with timing, fuel pressure etc.. The car squats bad on launch also and has no sub-frame connectors so I need to remedy that. R/T .153, 60' 1.871, 330' 5.636, 1/8 8.808@77.02 mph, 1000' 11.561, 1/4 13.885@97.12 mph

Re: 13s finally

what kind of tires you on? what gears? that 60 foot looks good for street tires and no converter. with converter and drag radials or slicks, you'll have a bottom 13 second car

here on of my runs back in the day with a stock TPI L98 with shorties, full exhaust, and 2800 stall on street tires with stock 2.77 gear. full suspension pretty much

my first 13 second run in cool spring air

1.89 60 foot
8.808 1/8 mile
77.18 mph 1/8 mile
11.56 1000 foot

13.89 at 96.6 mph 1/4 mile

i added slicks and 3.27 gears and went back in the summer heat
1.80 60 foot
8.72 1/8 at 76.96
11.48 1000 foot
13.79 at 96.77 1/4 mile

Cold november air, same setup as above but with 3.42 gears
1.75 60 foot
8.599 1/8 at 77.7 mph
11.33 1000 foot
13.63 at 96.9 mph

So you can see its only gonna get much better with better conditions and tires/converter. you have a cam and longtubes when i was bone stock internally and had shorties

Re: 13s finally

Not quite 13.8, but I went 13.933 @ 97.78 at OSW in Orlando. The car had: !front sway bar, K&N's, gutted air boxes, BBK 52mm TB, MSD 6A & coil, TPIS wires, !smog pump, !cats, Magnaflow muffler, 3.73's, BMR CM LCA's, and J&M hotparts relo brackets. Tires were some dry rotted BFG drags mounted on the stock 16" wheels.

The 60' was 1.916 on that pass, 8.84 in the 1/8. The motor is internally, stock, stock 700R4 & converter, stock manifolds, etc.

I imagined with all that would would have been a tick faster.

Re: 13s finally

Gears are 3.23, and those runs are on slicks. The next time I go out I am going to advance the timing and play with the fuel pressure. This was the first time I have been to the track in about a year, I wanted to see how it ran without the bad egr valve. Thanks for posting the times, I wanted to make sure my mph was right with my et.

How so? I'm about .05 off of a car with a cam & LT headers. The 3.73's actually hurt me, I'm out of motor around the 1000'. And the TB doesn't do crap, I'd be willing to bet my ET & MPH would stay the same.

Well, if you were at higher elevation i would think it was normal. I just figgured it should go .2 quicker or so, was it summer time, i know te humidity is like Texas so a winter pass might net a couple of tenths.

I run at the same track as the original poster, elevation is 66' IIRC. I was late summer, early fall - which is still fairly humid in FL. The DA was fair that night, around 600-800. It still could have been better, I've seen nights were the humidity was zero and the DA was hovering around -800.

I'm going to swap back to factory gears, I did in my old car and picked up over a tenth. Next will be to rebuild the transmission, it likes to flare on upshifts. The car is no raggedy POS, but it's no spring chicken either, I'm a little over 100 miles away from 150K.
