The better drag radial??
I also posted this in the aftermarket product review...
Im getting a set of 255 50 16" drag radials. Im wondering which brand is the better choice. The Mickey Thompsons are about $20 more each. Are they $40 better than the BFG's? I want the best performance for my 60' times. The car is driven on the street about 20 miles/week in only dry conditions.
My best 60' times on street radials are in the 1.95 - 2.05 second range. Any Ideas how much improvements i will see. I got some suspension mods done too. I have everything listed on my car link in my sig.
Anybody use both these brands?

Re: The better drag radial??
many people claim the M/T drag radials hook harder than slicks on certain setups, most likey stock style suspension. There's plenty of guys going 8's in the 1/4 with the M/T's

Re: The better drag radial??
I have run my car on all available drag radials except the m&h's. I would put them in this order.
1 M/T .. Hook very well, last awhile and have decent tread for street driving
2 Hoosier .. Hook great, very short life and little to no tread for street driving
3 Good Year .. Hook slightly better than BFG's but much shorter life
4 BFG .. Good hooking on lower power cars..can be made to work on a fast car but take alot of effort. Good tire for street driving
5 Nitto .. Haven't found a use for them besides rolling my car around the shop
If you want any more info of specific question to a tire let me know.

Re: The better drag radial??
thanks for the comparisons. My car is probably only putting 350-400 WHP to the ground with my 150 shot. I might not see a big difference from one to another, but i am leaning toward the MT's.
thanks

I’m not sure that I’d consider them real serious drag tires, but it’s all relative, as drag tires I don’t know that any drag radial really compares to a real drag slick.

Re: The better drag radial??
yeah, im sure the nittos will hook better than any street tires i have used. I never get more than 5000 miles out of a set of street tires anyways. I like to lay patches all over. People usually agg me on and i cant resist. I was running the kumho 712's but they stopped making them in 255.. I just bought some sumitomo 255 50 16 for only $67! each at tirerack.com, i got less than 100 miles on them and i burned them to the wear bar already. I did some figure 8's at my work parking lot. The surface was pretty rough. The plant manager tried to write me up, but i asked if she had a witness. I guess all my coworkers like me better than her.. (snitches get stitches) lol

Re: The better drag radial??
well, the tires helped alot. i got a new best ET of 11.90@116 mph on the 150 shot, and 13.39@102mph on motor...
Im pretty happy with that (1.70 60' times)
I will post vids after i edit them.
Thanks guys
