First Test and Tune

After finally getting my car back together I decided to take it to the track this past weekend and it wasn't pretty. My transmission slipped through all 3 gears until the third pass when I completely lost 3rd gear and coasted to a best of the night run of 9.35 at 67 mph with a 1.93 60ft. since my tranny is bad and i'm going to have to replace it anyway do you think I would be any better off running a turbo 350 instead of a 400?

I would stay with the 400 that way if you go up in HP later down the road you wont have to replace the 350 when that blows.

I was thinking that would be the route to go, I am in the process of building a 421 as well. I'm having fuel pump problems as well which helped with the spectacular times.

When I turn the key off all the fuel gets sucked out of the filter and while it is running there is air bubbles visible in the filter. I need a higher capacity fuel pump anyway the one I am using is a stock piece that I pulled off my 80 impala with a 305 so I'm sure at 6500 the pressure isn't optimal anyway

How can you see bubbles in the fuel filter? please tell you you dont run those ghetto inline clear plastic ones! Also you might want to upgrade to a better pump before racing it again, no sense in running out of fuel and breaking things.

Yeah, I've got a clear plastic inline one, but I just used it because I had it lying around, I have a real filter in the fuel line though, my plastic one is there just because i like having two. I'll probably put a new pump on, but my priority is to get a transmission with more than 1 forward gear.
