here's a shot of my IROC at Watkins Glen- driving school. I had it out this past Weekend at Lime rock park in CT...i've been driving this car for about 15 years..it's normally the "oldest" car at any of these track events! It handles great on good tires....i just installed a Moser 12 bolt over the summer....thing got hot and puked gear oil out the vent tube....that was embarrasing! had to drain some off then stick a soda bottle up next to the gas tank and put the hose into that! something to work on for next year!

Some stuff I found on youtube. The Japanese have an interesting flair for style... accidentally posted in teh 3rd gen race car thread instead of here, but you guys may find it interesting:
After reading about the COR wheels ($4400 a set fancy forged lightweight track wheels!) falling apart at a track day, on street tires, and then finding out these fancy forged wheels are actually imported from China... makes me leery of running anything but OEM wheels, or wheels that meet JWL specs. Anyone know of any Japanese wheels made in 5x4.75? The videos above seem to indicate that they're available...
BTW COR wheels falling apart and COR refusing the honor the warranty and then rewriting the warranty language on the website AFTER the guy tried to get them to make it right:
http://jalopnik.com/5953859/this-guy...=cotomer-sevis
Im hoping to find some OEM ZR1's, but I wonder if some 17x9 soft 8's will work, they're steel and heavy, but they're 17x9's. Would the lighter 16x8 OEM IROCs be a better option than heavy 17x9's? Any of hte track guys here have any advice on that?

I have a set of SSR Comps I run on my BMW M Roadster which is 5x120. That bolt pattern is fairly common among german cars and more and more with modern GM cars. There isa thread on this forum about recutting the bolt pattern to convert to a 5x4.75.
We run factory 16x8 wheels today, but tire size options for our race series is limited with 16s. We are looking at the move to OEM 17x9 for our endurance racecar. THe OEMs are heavy, but they are typically overdesigned to take long term abuse at the expense of a little extra weight.

The folks at moser told me that they run HOT for a while- till they are well broken in....i guess the tolerances are quite tight on the new ones....mine had less than 250 miles on it....but their breakin procedure for " circle track applications" said to run it forwards and backwards for ten minutes then overfill it by 2 pints.....heat it up good once, let it cool for an hour, then it's ready....so i probably have it broken in by now...but it will get some highway trips between now and next season...

Thrilled to see some like minded road racers on this board.
At the road course I can get 2 hours of seat time in one day.
More than I did in 20 years of 12 second quartermile passes.
Cornering and braking have brought new challenges and skills to driving.
I guess I should have posted my first 3rd gen thread here.

Last summer at the Local cruise night featuring Camaros.

it's definately addicting....been doing it for 20+ years...car got a new moser 12 bolt tru tracker last summer, dyno tuned the LT-1, new instruments last week....bigger wheels and a new set of track tires this spring! and by the way, that was a nice addition to somebody's interior at 'cruise night"!

Wow I love your car Axoid. For some reason these 91-92 RS cars always seem to look a little off compared to the 91-92 Z28s and the 85-90 IROCs. They always just end up looking like either base model cars or theyve got too much tacky crap all over them to compensate for that. Its subtle but it's there. But you've got a really nice look going on with yours. it looks legitimately awesome.
Do you have a TPI or a Superram on yours? If the TPI, do you find the torque is too much for autocross stuff, ie traction problems?

Thanks, it’s always nice to hear someone likes what you built.
I’m running a TPI with SLP siamese runners. I’ve done some porting throughout the plenum, runners and base.
When I first ran with the new motor, I did have traction problems with 275 Kumho V710s. Switching to 315 V710s solved the traction problems for the most part. I can still break them loose if I’m too heavy on exit, but that just requires throttle management. I’ve also installed a wats-link rear end to help with traction tuning, but I’m still at the default middle setting. Autocross is more a torque game than horsepower with so much exiting low speed corners. The key is not using the throttle like a light switch.
Also, I’m used to autocrossing the car loose and sliding it around (but not drifting), it is just the style that I have found works for me. My track driving style is the complete opposite of my autocross style, smooth and controlled vs. aggressive banzai maniac.

New vinyl wrap on my car:
Just picked it up Friday, pic was from grid at yesterday's autocross. Sadly, not much of a chance for action shots as I discovered one of the rear upper shock mounts was cracked after the first run.
A friend of mine has a graphics shop and he just started doing vinyl wraps -- first one was his Solstice ZOK autocross car, then a local pro fisherman's boat and tow vehicle.
Some more pics: /

Plus how many road race trucks that color have you seen with 3 seats in them? LOL It the first one for me.

Men playing with boys, you need to move up a run group.
Half those guys could not find an apex and most of them peed a little when you got in their mirrors.
Testing/lifting at 8k rpm with a 140 mph top speed gear on a 165 mph track.
Need to bump up the quick change to 155 mph for Laguna Seca next month.
The new 3 pick up pan and 5 stage dry sump worked perfect.

Lol yeah i was in one of the 'advanced' groups with a Honda event that i crashed and i felt like i was in group 3 at a 3balls.com event. As it turns out the other 'advanced' group had less traffic and i ran that the rest of the day. Passing makes for entertaining video but crummy lap times i just thought some thirdgenners might enjoy watching the abuse of some japanese cars.
