Ignition box mounting

I finally picked up a 6AL for the car, been sitting for 4 months now. I mounted it on the firewall where my AC box used to be. I was told that theres too much heat there and to move it. Is this person correct? I dont mind moving it if i'll keep the box alive longer.

My question is where do you have yours mounted? Pics? Also is the person right about the heat? I have 2210's ceramic coated.

Any help would be appreciated..

Re: Ignition box mounting

If the headers are coated, the amount of under hood heat is much lower. Mine is a gutted out race car. My ignition and coil are inside the car.

I made a mounting pad out of aluminum flat stock and installed it over the charcoal canister. Even managed to use factory only bolt holes.

Mine sits on the driver's side firewall in the corner. It's been there for about 6 years now, never gets wet or even remotely hot.

Re: Ignition box mounting

Thanks guys!

Skinny that setup looks nice, I think I'm going to move mine there. I have a good idea for somewhere to install it inside the car so I'll see if that works 1st.

Re: Ignition box mounting

when i had a stock dash, i used a modified factory computer bracket to house the msd under the dash inside the car.
now that i have a 4th gen dash, i have it mounted on the back of the glovebox, so its accessable, and still able to use the glove box.
i dont have any pics or id post them.
