Re: Rear Sway Bar..

Rear anti roll bar. I have an aftermarket weld in one. I use one of these. It can be custom fit into just about anything. For a third gen however with all it's sheet metal framework, you will need something more structural to weld it to.

http://www.d-mproducts.com/antirollbars.htm

It made launching the car so straight I can almost let go of the steering wheel when the transbrake releases.

Re: Rear Sway Bar..

I have a rear anti roll bar, similar to whats on tube chassis cars mounted above the rear axle, and I must say usually the car goes real straight.....which is good when the front tires are way off the ground

Re: Rear Sway Bar..

i'm currently running a stock IROC bar with poly bushings everywhere. i'm going to shorten the drivers side endlink spacer for now, along with my pass side air bag. i'll get a real anti-roll bar later. i still street drive my car and i'm not sure i want to tie the rear of the car down like that.

i'm impressed with all these big power cars improvements though! i'm hoping to be in the 1.5x range when i get the car back together, but i'm wondering now if i'm leaving some on the table.

Re: Rear Sway Bar..

I removed the factory tank, so I chose to put this anti roll bar in that area but rear axle mounted ones work as well.

It is supposed to be stiffer, I guess they do that so it is tuneable to some degree, but I dont really find a need for a softer bar on a drag race only car.

Its not as close as it looks.

My concern is the hiem joint sleeve doesn't "rest" straight up & down, its kinda angled, there just wasnt enough material on the frame to get a good solid spot to weld the plate to, so we placed it about 1" forward.
The tabs on the diff tube are welded at an 11 o'clock position, as per Dan @ Wolf, and it looks like its ready for duty.

Re: Rear Sway Bar..

Its called a drag bar, so I dont think its a street friendly part, but you're car is almost un-streetable anyway so.... Lets put one in!

$400 parts, $200 labor

call me

I wouldnt get terribly worried about that, the links should be strong enough that a small angle wont hurt. this is part of the reason mine is facing the front, just worked out better that way.

Re: Rear Sway Bar..

Because my mounts are on the diff back brace, they're not exactly in the same position on either side. One is a bit forward of the other and I have no problems.
