Got back to track again, as Orrs post mentioned unseasonably warm and a good head wind.. First pass missed 5th tryingto power shift it - bad move, 1.58 60ft, 10.42 @ 120. Second pass in spun hard as I was a little heavy with the clutch release, had to back out and get back it it - 1.67 60ft, 10.34 @ 135 just hitting 5th.. Next pass came out sorta soft 1.62 60ft, rowed through gears into 5th easy, pulled a best of 10.29 @ 135.. Last pass came out harder again, 1.58 60ft, tried to leave in 4th on limiter to see if itwas faster, actually slowed car down to 10.34 @ 134.
Pretty good for a worn out 400 I have been beating for years, oil pressure has been a dismal 15psi at idle for years now, blows some oil at wot, but has been a very reliable street car, always pump gas on a small 26x11 et street, full street trim minus carpet currently. spraying a 150 shot.

Car is running pretty good man! Thats impressive! Any plans to update that old 400?
Re: 10.29 @ 134 with T56, pump gas, couple pics and video
The 400, a freshen up for sure and new clutch, can't afford new heads so not much I can do really.. That block won't take a 434 with out the deck height, anything will require new pistons, crank and rods being I use a 6" rod currently. Probably just bearings, rings and valve job.

I am planning to go to MIR next Sunday weather permiting, you should go man! You will go 2/10s better for sure, if you break I will trailer it home.
I was hoping you would get a set of AFR 210s on that motor and see what it would do with the newest heads. That motor would rip, but its doing insanely well as it is. That thing LOVES the spray thats for sure

I think my cam helps the spray alot, 114 lsa, and AFRs are always effecient on the exhaust side which helps as well.
MIR DUDE! Get ready! Rode trip to easy 9s
I would love AFR 210s!!! Or Dart 227s even, just no funds for that right now, still need new carpet, driveshaft, clutch, 28" tires... No way this year...

No it would be Sunday the 15th, every year they did not even look at my car with exception of the time they kicked me off for no cage.. You will be good, if they warn you after running 9's tell them you will knock the boost down for next pass, that will buy you 3 passes at worst, at that point it does not matter, you got what you wanted - a 9.79 @ 143!!

Funny how I can get no love on this board anymore, I know how my friend feels, he has an 87 Monte with an LT1, G-Body boards shun him as well as 4th gen boards.

Congrats man thats real good on pump gas and a stick, you should have came to MIR this past weekend and ran the import vs dometic race. You would have done well. Dont worry about those haters man lol. Since building my car and seeing what it takes you have to appreciate anything fast. Oh and how fun is that thing on the street!!

I am sure you know Diggler being and LT1 guy, it weird - my car is just all parts left overe from my 87, even the ECM is still thirdgen 7730.. I still like thirdgens more than any, but this is what came along as a donor vehicle for my drivetrain after totalling the 87.. I do regret selling my 82 for the Vega I have now.. Still a thirdgen guy, just nothing to represent other than engine, wheels, wiring harness.

That 406 in its prime was one of the strongest running n/a EFI Factory ECM based combos i've seen in a long time and still is. Its running great times. I'm surprised its not recieving much love

Re: 10.29 @ 134 with T56, pump gas, couple pics and video
I'm looking free this weekend, we'll have to work out the details on how/when we are going to leave and all that. I wanted to hit up prp saturday but dont think i'll do that if we go to MIR. I dont think i'll change my boost or tune, probly hold 14psi where i left off, and give it hell
Re: 10.29 @ 134 with T56, pump gas, couple pics and video
a few weeks ago i spent like an hour searching to find out info on his 400. so it gets love, i just didn't post. i should have. i love fast stick shift cars.
and 87_TA. i read where you have to drop the motor to get to the dizzy. have you seen the do away from dizzy thread in the diy section? me and a buddy got it to work on his 93 lt1 z28. we did it to get rid of the opti, but same thing. since your using the 730, it would work the same. we used the 727 and $8D to start with, so the timing settings are sorted out. we have since switched the car to code59 to get ready for turbos. but its a pretty cool swap using cheap northstar parts from the junkyard, and coil packs made his feel smoother than it ever did on the opti spark.
