dremeled out the defogger junk, and installed my transbrake button in its place.
going to get a matte black decal made with the defogger logo on it and put it on the button.
keep the stock look going.

Re: sweet transbrake button

I can't reach any of my heater controls with the harness tight, you must have really long arms or the seat more forward than mine. Looks factory though

Re: sweet transbrake button

i cant reach it with my thumb, but my index finger sits on it nicely.
ive heard a lot of racers say you can be faster with your finger.
some guys i race with use their thumb cause thats what they are used to.
never had a transbrake in my car, so ill have to learn to come off the button anyway.
hopefully it works out, if not ill just glue the factory button back in place.
seat is up a bit. im only 5'9. all my length is in my body.
short and stocky.

Re: sweet transbrake button

Nice clean installation. I'm in the same boat. I fabricated the overhead switch panel mainly because it was hard to reach switches on the dash when strapped in tight. My seat is mounted back from the stock position and my throttle pedal has been moved back so I don't have to reach as far when I push it to WOT.

Transbrake button position is a personal preference. I like mine on the left side of the steering wheel. Others like it on the right. Some racers have it mounted on the dash or on a pedestal beside the shifter. Whatever works for you and is the most comfortable to use.

Re: sweet transbrake button

Yep. Also makes climbing over the door x-brace a little easier. I'd move the seat, steering and pedals back at least another 6" if I could but that becomes a big project.

reason i asked is because i dont like to take my hands off the wheel or shifter when im making a pass. i figured it would increase chances of boogering the 1-2 shift, so i am using the thumb button on the shifter for my t-brake. my line lock button is on the dash, however.

i agree with you on not taking your hand off the shifter.
when i had a 3 spd in the car it was almost instant, mat it and then shift.
i put a glide in the car and i dont have to worry about shifting too quick.
thats the 1st thing i thought about was convenience.

not at all.
its a 4th gen dash setup. with my hand on the shifter all i have to do is go from holding the shifter(think fist) to pointing my index finger out to reach the button.
it fells almost natural.
i hope work and weather cooperate so i can wire things up and get to the track this weekend.
