Re: a quick update on the camaro

be careful with custom "special" lobes some of these guys are having ground for people.... i know of at least one guy that was selling cams with a lobe that was more radical than the ones used in a sprint car camshaft. (short duration racing)
basically those guys were killing the valvesprings by 1-2k miles or so and were floating the valves, among other things. same thing every time... they would install the cam/springs, take it to the dyno, lay down some nice #s, and then trouble shortly thereafter. radical lobes are good for making power, but there is always a downside. i would make sure to get a copy of the cam card and make sure its not a retarded lobe design.

Re: a quick update on the camaro

these cams are actually EASIER on the valvetrain than some of the ones out there for ls based motors that other shops put out. Not uncommon to get 10k out of a set of springs with these lobes with patriot extreme dual valvesprings setup properly. I also have a cam doctor from the shop of the cam specs and it isn't crazy at all, just makes a lot of under the curve total power instead of a peaky cam like the majority of the big grinds out there.

its the new thing, so it costs more. sorta like the "corvette tax". they've been poppin' out sbc cams for 50 years now.

call bullet cams, they can tell you exactly what you need for your car.

I bought a cam once without knowing specs beforehand. It turned out much different spec wise from what I myself would have chosen for that build, but that cam did everything I requested. It made the power I wanted, it made the rpm range I wanted, and car ran the ET's I expected. And to boot, it had an awesome exhaust sound and I think it was partially because of the cam. NExt motor I had built with a different cam but same exhaust on it, had a completely different tone.

But yeah you will want to know the specs to get an idea of where your torque curve will be. That is needed to spec the converter.
