finally hit 11's

Well after 10 years of owning the car I think I kind of maxed out my bolt on mods lol. The new heads, cam and exhaust gave me on average about 1 second and 10 mph off my times with the same amount of boost. New best so far is 11.7 but still need to tune some for the new pulley and waiting on my new torque arm to arrive. I'am running with a 3.7" pulley making about 12 psi at about 6000 rpm where I shift at, with the new heads, cam and exhaust power doesn't want to drop off tell then. Probably should be running little better but I do have 8.3 compression and a race weight around 3900+Ibs, at 2200' altitude track. So overall not to bad plus I'am still learning how to drive this combo.

Think it's time to move up to a short runner intake though, kind of feel with the TPI it's a mismatch with my blower and t-56 tranny. Probably going to try out the Pro-Flo XT from Edelbrock since it looks like the cheapest option that could fit under my hood.

Re: finally hit 11's

wow your car is really heavy. If you want to knock a little time off your slip, upgrade to the zz409 cam, little more lift and still very streetable. What are you running for tires out back. With a 11.70 time you should be getting better 60 fts. My best 60 foot is a 1.51 with a 11.72 time

Re: finally hit 11's

I'am running a M/T drag tire 8.5" on a 16" GTA wheel with 14 PSI, it's a older tire they don't make anymore but your right I don't get the best traction at the track but I don't mind either, less chance of things breaking.

What's your race weight?

Can you post some pics of the car? Red GTA's are at the top of my list. Especially 11 seconed blower cars.

Edit* Nevermind, just saw the Cardomain site. nice car!!!

Congrats, I think a short runner intake will really improve things under boost.

Re: finally hit 11's

Your MPH has me covered in the eighth, not bad at all. I am just wishing i had the cash for a set of heads so i can get the compression and flow numbers where this big *** cam likes it.

What intake are you thnking of switching to? I am a firm believer of ditching the log runners no matter what, but the intakes are so damn expensive.

Re: finally hit 11's

Can someone please tell me how fast this car would be at sea level? It just seems like it should be a bit quicker with those H/C/I and 12pds????

Re: finally hit 11's

Well i've seen same heads with miniram intake on stock L98 bottom end in a mid weight car run similar times at probably lower altitude than that. So with boost you'd expect alot more.

But he is alittle higher up, and his raceweight is really heavy compared to most thirdgen weights i've seen posted.

Plus TPI is killing some of that combo. The 93 mph 1/8 is very good, but its slowing down abit by the 1/4 with 115.7 mph. My old 383 could do 92-93mph 1/8 but hit 118-119 in the 1/4 with HSR intake. Had more top end.

I think the proflo will greatly increase his power up top. If its similar to HSR it will flow probably 30 cfm more than TPI base. That alone will help match the head flow. Probably can run same times as he does with TPI with less boost.

Plus he has more tuning to do, so theres more in it.

Using the NHRA Stock/Super Stock conversion tables, 2200' corrected to sea level would be 11.46 @ 118.81.

Re: finally hit 11's

OP really nice times on them TPI runners.....

I would suggest a victor E,elbow for your set up,plenum volume is so much better and from what i have seen and experienced it should yeild roughly 4-6 tenths better, carb intakes rock!

Good lookin car bro, keep up the good work

I ordered up the Edelbrock Pro-flo XT but just the intake and rails http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...xt_intro.shtml Was looking at the measurements while back and think I'll be able to fit it under the hood with little modding or none. I'll do a full write up once it's complete.

Way I look at it the average I seen for combo's similar to mine but N/A are around 12.5-12.8 with the LTR setup, I might be around 13.0 without the blower from what I felt. So 11.7 ain't to terrible but your right there are N/A cars out there that are in the 11's which is why I want to move up to a short runner intake. It would match so much better with my t-56 tranny, centrifugal blower and the heads, plus I'am getting bored with TPI lol.

I do have a question though when you talk about race weight is that including the driver?

Race weight includes the driver and whatever else you have on board for a timed pass. 1/2 tank of fuel, slicks (intead of street tires), etc.
I see vehicle weights posted and I question whether or not the driver has been included as well.

Re: finally hit 11's

My buddy's car with a blower was doing low 12's at 113 with a TPI setup and mild ported L98 vette heads. Running near 12 psi I believe. Wasnt tuned on a setup handling MAP however, just FMU i think and it eventually blew the motor. His motor ran pretty good when it was all motor. Mid 13's on street tires with just bolt ons, still TPI.

Re: finally hit 11's

Yes it is, it's nice to be able to run down a few bikes

It should be interesting to see how the new intake will do or if the stock short block will even handle the RPM with that power. Still need to get a few more runs in if I can with the setup as it is now with some proper tuning. My 11.7 run was the first run of the night, 2nd run the carpet got in the way and my 3rd the torque arm broke lol
