Re: getting it back together!
I am talking from idle, with no load, in gear cruising and stabbing the throttle it is no issue, just from a dead idle. Otherwise, it does not bother me, i just want him to make the best carb out of the two i have. I could play with tuning to fix the issue, but since this guy has 20 more years experience on me, i am just going to have him set it up the best way he suggests. Dan is the man.

Re: getting it back together!
it's all in the accelerator pump circuit dude. i'm talking from a dead stop, dead idle, i can stomp on it and my 275/60/15 Sticky Mickey Thompson Drag Radials are in smoke for 50+feet on an unprepped surface.
they don't make different squirter sizes and accelerator pump cams for no reason...ya gotta tune it. you are the one constantly saying to do things yourself, and yet you're gonna pawn your carb tune off on someone else? just sayin'...

50 feet? Sounds like you need to work on traction, LOL.
Well, like i said, he is going to check out my 2 carbs and combine the best pieces of both. Otherwise, who cares if i cannot stab it in neutral and get a stumble if it doesnt do it in gear? I just know that will e building my carb, he will get it finer tuned than me any day. And damn cheap, otherwise i would just stick with what i have. Still going to see what it does on the dyno pretty soon.

Yea, mine dead hooks at the track launching at 5100, but i didnt have anyone videoing, so it is ok to spin on the street on a "unprepped" surface then right? LOL

Re: getting it back together!
obviously it doesn't work at the track because as i recall you're having wheel hop issues and the car still won't 60'. having the pinion angle set at 0* is killing you. need -2*+ on a stick car.

Re: getting it back together!
First time to the track when i was getting 8.1 at 92, it was on the ET streets, and i was dead hooking. Now, with the bald nittos, it was wheel hopping and since i built another trans crossmember. But, what is positive and what is negative? differential yoke angled up to the sky is positive or negative? I assume positive. I thought i wanted to run negative(yolk down) a couple degrees?

50cc front pump shot, 40 squirters all around.....
there now mail me a check for fixing your "stumble".
-2 is a good starting point, I assume you have an adjustable torque arm to reset it?

-2* is downward, the +(plus sign) is to let you know that you'll probably need more than -2*...but i guess correctly termed it would be "less" pinion angle.

Re: getting it back together!
Yea, adjustable Spohn. so, sdjust the pinion angle (yolk) down to gain a good pre load. That is what i though, because i could not make since to go up. I think i will go with 3* and let it rip. Anyone leave theirs preloaded all the time? I am sure it is not that bad on U joints right?

Re: getting it back together!
it's not preloading anything.....this isn't an anti-roll bar that can "load" something in the chassis. You are just setting the pinion angle to -2, basically grab a magnetic angle finder and put it on the driveshaft a few inches in front of the rear end yoke, grab the angle let's say it's 13 degrees. Next put the angle finder on the rear end yoke with the tabs facing parallel to the pavement. Set the angle to 15 degrees and lock it down. You can then step back and clearly see the pinion is facing downward compared to the driveshaft a slight amount. U-joints need to rotate to live, -2 through -4 is standard setups. Depends how much the torque arm can flex upon launching the car.

Yea, that is why i thought 3 would be good, so no u joint wear like the Spohn paperwork suggested is possible?

Re: getting it back together!
Glad to hear you got everything sorted out. I spoke with a fellow brother from my church about my car and he said to bring it to his shop tomorrow to straighten out the rad core support. So I'm making some progress too. I'll have my camera to record your passes and then I'll post them later for you if you like.
