10" is my vote, the car has a 14 point cage but you don't have minitubs?

Re: 28x11.5x15 qtp on 8 or 10 inch wheel

no minitubs yet i wanted the cage put in first before the minitubs just to make sure nothing was going to get in the way even though all cars with cages on this forum and others that i have seen had no problems i guess i just wanted a peace of mind but i have realy considerd the 10 just wanted my fellow thirdgeners to give me some input i know your car looks awsome on 10's did you ever get it minitubed or are you still sporting the BFH fix. i know you said you wanted to on some of the other threads that i read.

If you just have 8s, they will work fine, but 10s if it is a option.

Both should work, if you have 8's then I wouldn't waste money on 10's unless you're going bigger from there, if you're buying them 10's will be a little more stable and allow for upgrading, 8's will be a little lighter, honestly, I would go with whichever one fits better...

If he's buying, 10s will have a much flatter footprint of the slick surface. The 8s will need a lower tire pressure to create the same footprint, slicks will wear out faster and the tire will be less stable down track as you stated

Re: 28x11.5x15 qtp on 8 or 10 inch wheel

yep, we're saying the same thing, coming to it from opposite angles... 10" will have the same footprint with a higher pressure making them more stable, and that is a good thing as long as you don't need to absorb extra energy, and in theory without absorbing that energy you should be slightly faster (the same argument for stiff construction or radial slicks on very fast cars), but the fact still comes down to whatever fits best is best... if they hit or have other fit problems that is a bigger issue than a slight pressure change.

In my case I found that the only way that I could get exactly the offset, spacing and fit that I wanted I could go custom wheels or one 15x9" wheel... I'm running 15x9" draglites.

Re: 28x11.5x15 qtp on 8 or 10 inch wheel

the wheels have not been purchesd yet but the car will most likly have a minitub so the wider wheel 10'' wheel with a 6.5 back spacing wouldnt be a prob. we also have a 67 camaro with a 28x11.5x15 hqtp tire on a 8'' rim but it only runs 11.80's and cal tracs which helped a ton the car does not squat at all it just leaves stright and good. but with my third gen build we are making more power along with some nitrous so i figuerd a 10'' would be better just wanted to make sure before i made the purchase and with the style of wheel that i want its only a 12 dollar diffrece between 8'' and 10'' wheels..

if you guys would like to see the 67 camaro making a pass get on youtube and type in flammed 67 camaro vs 70 camaro should be one of the first videos the car is yellow with flames all over it its nothin special its my brothers car and a very low budget build but alot of fun..

If your going to mini tub it, might as well go with a 12" wheel the first time in case you wanted to run some bigger tires later. You can fit those 28's on a 12" and it will spread the patch out nicely.
