First track time for 2011
Our weather has been cold and wet and I haven't made any local passes yet so I decided on a road trip today to Edmonton. Edmonton is around 2300' elevation so there's a big advantage for more power right there. The air wasn't that bad. I think by the end of the day, it was around 3800' (I'll have to check my logs later when I do some number crunching). Still good air for me.
I didn't enter eliminations. I just wanted track time to check out how the car would run after the winter projects so all these passes were T&T runs..
Track conditions were great and with that unknown factor, I decided to play it safe for the first pass. I left the front end full loose and set the 2-step to 4000 rpm. The front end came up off the ground like a normal pass and I only ran 9.274 @ 146.05 mph. Not much different than a run in Calgary last year but I knew there was more in it.
Looking at the datalog, it looked like the engine wanted more fuel so I fattened up the mixture and bumped the 2-step to 5000 and was rewarded with at least a 100 foot wheelie 6 feet in the air. I was seeing sky!! I stayed in it the whole time and never heard any damage when it bounced back down. Ran a 9.135 @ 147.83 mph. Picked up almost 2 mph with more fuel. I tripped the 60' timers with the back wheels so the 60' time sucked.
Tightened up the Koni SPA1 front struts from the full soft setting one half turn firmer to keep the front end down and no other changes. Made my third pass after the lunch break and this time the front end stayed down but only ran 9.176 @ 147.27. Close to the last run but I wanted more.
Fattened up the fuel once more as the datalog still said it wanted more fuel. I now have it tuned as fat as I can. I need some larger nozzles to go to the next stage up. I added another 1/2 turn tighter to the front struts and went up for one last pass. Another 100' wheelie tripping the 60' timers with the back tires and set another personal best. Ran 9.029 @ 148.78 mph. If I could richen up the fuel mixture some more, an 8 second pass may be possible.
My girlfriend was taking pictures and managed to get grandstand video of my last and best pass. Check this out. Launch looks good. No zoom so nothing to see downtrack. Only a 1.405 60' time (with the back tires). I was doing 120.61 mph by the 1/8.

The breakdown of the runs were really interesting. I think 3 of the 4 passes the 1000' to 1/4 mile times were identical and even the 1/8 to 1/4 mile were very close. It's hard to make the shift in the first couple hundred feet when the front tires are in the air.

Re: First track time for 2011
your getting very close to the eights.nice wheels up in the video.
Nothing like having the big tire backhalf traction. My drag radial street car is hit or miss at the track, there is nothing like running 12.10s at 130 mph lol.
I should of backhalved my current project but got talked into doing a drag radial setup.
