Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
Keep in mind it may need retuned. Cam change like that will change fuel curve and could also change timing. Play around with that and also the lash settings. Could be some big gains in those 2 areas.
Your old cam was alot larger...it doesnt seem to make sense that this smaller cam would lose torque and like higher shift rpms.

It would probably run better if you set them to .026"/.028". Even .020"/.022" would be better than .20"/.22".

Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
The cam was dergeed using intake center line method. It called for 106 install . I got it to 106.5 on the degree wheel so it should be fine thier.
Well My best time last night was 11.76 @116.19 1.5960ft.
Keep in mind i did not tune the carb at all its still jetted at 78/88 I forgot my jet kit last night so i could not mess with the carb. I did pull my carb spacer off and it ran a 11.90 so it like the spacer. Timing is @38 I was leaving off the foot brake at about 3600. Shifting @6900 The car feels about the same at the track. I need to get my long tubes done and then start tuning. I hate to get everything tuned now and then change something and need to tune all over again. Its starting to look like its not going to make 11.50 I will post some youtube videos on sunday

Also Comp cams says it is suppose to be 20/22 on the lash. So i have not changed it. Its wierd how the website says diffrent? They said it would make the cam seem smaller by going 26/28 so i did not change it.

So it picked up 7mph? That's pretty huge for just scam swap. Get some real exhaust on it and I bet it'll go 120.

7 mph is a Huge gain! how does the car still feel the same as the old combo??? 7mph is like a 100-125 shot
MPH is good for 11.5's. What does the rest of the timeslip look like from 60 foot to 1/4 mile. What it do at the 1/8 mile ET and MPH?

I feel like it pulls all the way now and it does pull to about 7k. Iwas hoping to drop some 60ft feels like it leaves the same. I know i still need to switch the exhuast i just been putting it off becouse of the trans crossmember being in the way. What do you guys think of the video and the way it leaves? Does it look sluggish?

With that much gear and stall i'd expect it to hit abit better than 1.59 60's. Perhaps it still needs alittle tuning, either fueling/timing and/or suspension tweaking.

Your previous slip was a 11.86 at 109. That was light years away from a 11.50 pass.
Your current slip is 11.76 at 116. Now your within arms reach because the cars making good power. Once the powers there to motor down the track it's just about the fine tuning. 60ft, air/fuel, suspension etc...
The hard part is now out of the way. You need to get the tune spot on and get those headers installed. I'll bet with the headers/tune/practice (60Ft) this car goes 119!. I can bet on it.
I'll be honest, I'll bet another trip to the track the way it sits (a little more launching and tinkering) it goes 1.55 60ft, 11.6X and 116 or maybe 117 mph.
HEre's something you should read over carefully. This car started with the same times. 11.86 @ 116. After he got the 60ft down the car went 11.50's with the wheels in the air.

Also watch cam tech suggestions at times, put comp XE 284 in step dads 1st gen. Told comp tech the spring pressure I had measured on head and at .550 lift.. 100/268 with flat tappet.. He said they would be fine, first time out it floated exhaust valve and bent it. After calling back and told them the news, he then said "Yeah, thats probably not enough"..

Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
Well I was reading the post you linked, I know one big diffrence is he is running a trans brake. I'M wondering if i need to adjust my pump shot? I was thinking if i leave at 3000-3500 on the footbrake is the pump shot gone? If i would loosen up the arm it would give a shot or would it be too much then? I have a 2 step but i have never used it since i only leave on the foot brake. Should i be looking for a trans brake also?

I'm not sure I understand what any of that stuff means? Whats a pump shot and what arm are you loosening?
But I do understand transbrake. You will benefit from a transbrake especially with the smaller 10" converter. You will most definetely go 11.50's with a TB. The point of that article was that once your making the power the E.T's come with it. Just need to find them.

Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
The pump shot on the car,Where the carb shoots its first bit of gas through the squirters. If the car is at 3500 is the pump shot on the carb already gone? Then when you go to the floor their is no shot of fuel from the squirter? Their is no bog at the line,But i know if you looses the pump arm nut it delays when you get the shoot of gas from the squirter. I was wondering if that may need to be adjusted? Also this this be a new topic since the cam is a done deal and in the past?

Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
You may need to go to a different pump arm cam so you still have pump action after you're already at part throttle.

Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
you change pump cams, you don't loosen or tighten the pump arm to delay when the shot comes on....you need to properly set it with a feeler gauge at full throttle opening, google it if you're unsure how to set it up.

Re: How do you feel about this cam with my setup?
Well im back at it again, New converter and exhuast first run friday night off the trailer car went 119.mph 11.39 leaving @3k, second run leaving @ 4k 11.47 119mph third run leaving @ 3500 car went 11.32 @119 60 ft was 1.60 all three runs. Im happy i broke the 11.50 mark i had set for the year. Just wondering why the car does not like leaving above 3500. I can hold it on the foot brake but the et goes up to 11.47 both time i tried it.

Converter may like to be "flashed" at the hit. Glad you met your goals, sounds like its running great now!

yea i was just thinking with a converter like this it would want to be higher then the old one. My old converter liked to be held around 3-3300.Maybe fast 383 will add to this since he built it for me
