Removing rubber marks
Ok so you go to the drag strip or the road course....end up with black streaks of rubber up the sides of the car or on the nose...well i've tried various methods of removing it before....just ended up scratching the paint....well i love starter fluid, use it for cleaning all kinds of things.... i found it also dissolves rubber stains very quickly....the fresher they are, the faster it works......i spray it on and then rub it with a clean cloth ( i use an old sock)......works great, no harm to the paint......don't smoke while you are doing this..........

Wd40 works well. A little Pam cooking spray on the quarters before hitting the dragstrip works too. However my cars wear their burnout rubber like a badge of honor

Wax and grease remover from the body shop supply store. I use a gallon a year to remove rubber from all over my car.

Re: Removing rubber marks

Re: Removing rubber marks
You guys will probably think I`m crazy but the best thing I have found is STARTING FLUID, it` works the best with only a very small amount of smearing and has not hurt the paint ever. I do it about twice a year so you can imagine how much I get on there LOL!

Re: Removing rubber marks
that's the stuff man! works great- i go through a ton of it in my own hobby shop. it's a great degreaser....leaves no trace behind. ever buy a new water pump, brake rotor or any car part that comes with a coat of oil on it, instead of paint? use starter fluid to dissolve the oil and watch it run off....then when it dries....like in 1 minute, you can paint it and the surface is chemically clean.....also works great to clean out varnish from old valve covers, oil pans.....all kinds of things....give it a try, you'll wonder what you did without it!

Re: Removing rubber marks
i think brake parts cleaner leaves a residue. Starter fluid is either, which completely evaporates at room temps.....

Re: Removing rubber marks
Go to an RV store and purchase 'Black Streak Remover'. It's safe for paint and removes rubber scuffs.
