You have to have at least a 5 pt. rollbar. The doorbar on the passenger side is optional, but would be a good idea IMO. If you feel confident enough that you can do the welding yourself, then by all means save yourself a couple hundred and do it. I don't have access to a mig welder and only have minimal experience gas welding anyway so I paid someone else to build me a cage. $500 for a 6 pt. cage parts and labor. That ought to give you a rough idea on how much it should cost.

Everything mentioned in the above post PLUS
now that you're in the 11's you need a 5 point harness, single layer fire jacket SFI 3.2A/1. A manual transmission car needs a scatter shield plus SFI rated clutch and flywheel. Screw in valve stems are required on all wheels with tubeless tires. Aftermarket axles are required with positive axle retention (ford 9", c-clip eliminators, rear disk brakes etc). You need a SFI Spec 18.1 harmonic balancer. Driveshaft loop is now manditory.
Welcome to the world of 11 second racing. Safety equipment requirements go higher in the 10's and a lot more is required in the 9's. Hitting the 9's gets real expensive.
I still run a 6 point roll bar in my car. It's legal to 10.00 unless you've modified the floor or firewall. Then it's only good to 11.00. There's nothing saying you can't put a full cage in the car but that's a lot of extra weight for a high 11 car. My 6 point roll bar is 70 pounds of mild steel. You may add enough weight to slow down to the 12's again.
The roll bar MUST be mig or tig welded. Any gas or stick welding will not pass tech inspection. Buy a rulebook and read all the requirements for bar positions.
