My track times
I had an opportunity to time my car at the track yesterday and found some strange problem with my transmission. I ran five runs for test and tune and had ran two times with no problem, then on the third and fourth run the trans wouldnt shift to third. I let off the throttle and wind down then it will go into third and fourth. On the drive home it worked without troubles. This is a 87 GTA with 5.7 TPI and stall converter. I have some time slips also.
If someone familiar would look at this, that would be great. Thanks.
My second run was progressing worse as the car got warmer, which may have caused a trans shift error.
1st run: 0.242 RT, 1.969 60Ft, 5.813 330Ft, 74.67 Speed, 9.087 660Ft, 93.59 vehicle speed, 14.357 ET
2nd run: 0.379 RT, 2.103 60Ft, 6.021 330Ft, 73.77 Speed, 9.334 660Ft, 90.68 Vehicle speed, 14.789 ET

Re: My track times
that's a fairly common 700r4 issue. there should be some threads in the transmission section on how to take care of it

Re: My track times
im not a trans person but i would check and see what color the fluid is if its a bright red is ok but if its a dark red id say change the filter and fluid while u have the pan off. if it has any metal or lot of black silky in it prob not to far from bein done

Re: My track times
I was told that my trans was freshly rebuilt. It does fine when driven normally. I was informed that I should take the valve body to the professionals to check it.

Re: My track times
Fluid loss or lack of, it could be a few things but likely this will cure it if it was just rebuilt try adding the corvette servo or aftermarket servo.

low line pressure from the pump will cause this and so will leaking clutch packs or seals inside.
