Hoosier 275's

What air pressure should I start at? how much is too less, or too much. I've heard around 16 lbs? Put on a used set for a charity/toy race for this coming Saturday. Never run radials before. 3200lbs, one month ago on 29.0x10.0 slicks went 6.58 1.400 60'.

Re: Hoosier 275's

I would consider that a good starting point, seems many are in the 16-18psi range.

Re: Hoosier 275's

I've tried 14-22. A friend swears by 22psi but he runs 10.90's @ 122.

I stuck with 16psi hot for many true street passes and had consistant 1.41-1.43 60's. 3450 convertible car with a glide/3.73's. It went 140mph but was geared for about 155. 4500rpm transbrake launches.

Goodluck! They are really stable!!

Start at 18. I run 22 psi and run 1.32 in 60' no issues. I have 52% weight on nose...and weigh 3095 total...if youre more on the nose try a little less air

Re: Hoosier 275's

run my 295/55 m/t at 18 hot, which is around 16.5 cold. Buddy runs the hoosiers at no more than 17 cold or he blew them off. His car is 90 pounds lighter on the nose than mine also.

These are used, pretty much on the free side. I just hope they hook a little bit lol.

Re: Hoosier 275's

ah, i gotya. they don't have a great amount of life in them to begin with, so i hope you get a couple passes out of them. they're a great tire, but i think i only got 40ish passes out of them. i hear the m/t is the same way.

Re: Hoosier 275's

the m/t is 9lbs heavier though....i think that matters unless youre a 1300hp x275 guy. lol

the hoosiers on my buddies 9.50 car last about 65-75 passes...all they need is a quick burnout to be perfect.

i had 75 passes on the OLD m/t tire before it was just done...wouldnt barely try to hook anymore.

Re: Hoosier 275's

18.5 psi cold. 1.19 60' on the rears. I get tire shake below 17.5 and usually got 20 passes on Hoosiers because the resale sucks with the grooves are almost gone. New MT I got 50+ and still had good reslale becuase of the deep grooves

Re: Hoosier 275's

Well first pass I set the tires on 16.5, did a good burnout, launch on 3400 and it shook hard with a 1.50 60; and ran 6.71. Went up to 18 psi, dropped launch to 3100, went 6.51 6.494 6.491 6.487 .... 1.402 1.398 1.395 1.400 60's Got one video of it.

Radial tires pass

Re: Hoosier 275's

You know...if you switched to a lightweight th350 you could prob go 1.33 or 1.35 in 60' and drop a tenth or two from your et easily.

For the pro tree racing I do, the glide is best trans. I tried a 1.98 first gear in my glide and didn't like it. Hit the tires too hard.

Re: Hoosier 275's

how long did you run out that burnout to call it a "good" one. Typically we ran them until we saw smoke initially then released the line lock. No john force burnouts needed on radials at all.

Well on a fresh set they might not need that much, but I was told to heat them up so I did, lol. Usually my slicks will start to chatter right out of the water but these things just kept on spinning. It was just a charity race and a memorial race for a man who worked the track for over 18 years and died out there a month ago when a Dragster backed over him on the line. I was having fun actually getting to run the car wide open for a change.
